How much does a tank of gas cost you?

I got a call today with an offer I would like to persue, but it will require hubby to participate too. I'm not sure if I can convince him to give up his time to complete the offer but it did make me wonder how much the offer was worth. Just to assure you, it was a call from the dealership that hubby bought his new truck from recently, not some out of the blue company trying to get me to take a survey. They called to see if we had received our customer satisfaction survey yet. Since I hadn't received it yet, the rep told me that I should receive it within the week. Since they had a low response rate on getting these surveys back, they offered an incentive. IF we fill in the survey, bring it back in to the dealership & go over it with them, they would fill up our tank for us. Hubby rarely let's the gas gauge get below a quarter of a tank, but it still costs about $60 to fill it up with the current prices. If he timed his acceptance when he has less than that, it could be closer to $70-$75 to fill it up. As long as the survey takes less than an hour, I think it could be worth scheduling. What do you think? Would you do it? How much would it take to fill your tank? OR How much would this survey be worth if you could take it?

You bet I would do that. My full size van takes about the same as the truck. The little car takes close to forty, and the mid size car about $54. It would be well worth it for any of them. And it would be a chance to let them know how good a job they did or did not do.

I did have some concerns that would be nice to have cleared up. To "get paid" for discussing them with the dealership works well for me. :D

My van holds 100 litres of gas. Of course I never let it get completely empty (though came pretty close last week). I also let the gas gauge get down to about 1/4, usually no more. Hubby says not to fill up the tank because the weight of the gas in the tank causes the motor to USE more gas. Oh brother! Back when the stations were running out of gas they locked the pumps at the station I usually fill up at. They locked them at $75. That ended out filling my tank. I don't think I've ever paid $80 to have my tank filled but if the prices go up again I could see it happening. The current rate is .95c a litre in most places. It does vary. As for the offer, go for it! What really have you got to lose? A free tank of gas is almost like gold.

If the dealership is not a far drive, I would do it. Heck, it would save you going to the pump and paying for it.

Well we only have a little car now that I think takes less tham $30 to fill. We probably wouldn't bother with the survey since an hour of sitting is a REALLY long time with 3 little boys...it wouldn't be worth it for us lol! But if we still had our truck then we'd absolutely go for it. That would be worth about $75 for us too. That would more than make up for whatever we had to go through keeping everybody sitting still for an hour!

I don't drive so can't answer the part of your question dealing with cost of a tank of gas. However, if doing this survey will get you $75 worth of gas, I'd certainly go for it. I've done surveys for less $$.

Me too. I'm not sure hubby will do it though. First thing he asked when I told him about the offer of a free tank of gas was, "Is this one of those time share things?" LOL

It all depends on the size of the car and what the price of gas is that day when I decide to fill it. Usually it will cost about $40 to fill my Volkswagen Jetta. That will last at least for a few days of long driving or weeks of short drives around the city.

With the current gas prices, it currently costs me about $20 to fill up my tank. Obviously if the prices go lower, then it will cost less. I have a newer car which is more gas efficient than many cars out there. I would fill out a survey if they were willing to fill up my tank for free. That would be at least a good week of driving around for free.

That's true. What kind of vehicle did you get with such good mileage?

Hey Paid how are you doing. Well right now we are paying about $2.65 to $2.70 a gallon, thank goodness it went down some. And right now it takes about 30 dollars to fill up the car that we are using. That is cool on the survey thing and congrats on your hubbys new truck. See you around here and there. Hugs!

Thanks hoghoney. We do like the new truck. I hope they actually mean a full tank of gas, because we're paying at least $2.70 a gallon right now too. :)

I would definitely do it!! My hubbys truck would probaby cost around $75 too, but my little SUV would be like $40, still well worth it to me! As long as the survey isn't too invasive and all. I wouldn't want to sit down and go over my answers with someone, so I would take my kids with me as a distracion, maybe they would hurry up and finish the interview quicker =) Good luck trying to talk him into it!!

I look forward to seeing what the survey contains to see if it's going to be worth it. I only have one or two points for them to clear up, so as long as hubby doesn't get annoyed because I ask questions, it shouldn't take long. (I hope)

Sounds like something worthwhile, although I would check it out thoroughly before getting into it. Now for me to get my car filled up, it would take about $25 on the average to get it filled up, and that would last about a week at the least with local driving. If I was to leave town, then we're talking about $50 plus to keep it filled. As a rule, I try hard NOT to keep it down to less than a quarter tank as a rule, but my money isn't always there to do that.

I still don't have the survey, but I did call the dealership to confirm that they will fill up the tank, so I'm still interested in seeing the actual survey. Once we get it, I'm telling hubby to ignore the low gas light for a few days, lol. :)

Still waiting on the survey to arrive so I called the dealership yesterday & they confirmed it would be a FULL tank from their pumps. She told me to wait one more week & if it doesn't get here, call back so they could check on it again. WooHoo, hurry up survey!

I am a little worried about their wording. I wouldn't want hubby to think we'll get a full tank only to get a gas card for a lower amount or to a station hubby won't use. As soon as I get the actual survey I'll be calling them back to reconfirm that I understood them correctly as that could be a big difference. ;)

I would take the survey, why not? It sounds like good money for low effort. The only smelly thing I find about it is that you should go through it with the dealer... maybe they want to influence on your opinion about them...? But, anyay, take it!

LOL, I can relate to that. Luckily there are only a few concerns, so if they can clear those, I'll be happy. This is actually the 3rd vehicle we've bought from this dealership, so we're pretty happy with them overall. If they can tell us how to keep the radio/clock display from fading to nothing, hubby & I will both be happy. :)

i can't beleive how cheap petrol is for you guys!! here in the uk it costs me about £50 to fill up, i think that's about $100 and my car's only a middle sized model. My partner's car cost quite a lot more.

I wouldn't call it cheap, but compared to what you're paying, I can see why you would feel that way. :)

I'm having trouble seeing the downside of things here. Spent a few minutes filling out a survey, and another few minutes going over it with the dealership, and get a free tank of gas? Go for it!

Since it's a local business I definately would do it. Since I don't have my own vehicle right now I usually fill my aunts car and it costs about 50-60 bux to fill if its almost empty.
