Hot cereal?

The weather is getting colder and winter is fast approaching (well, in some parts of the world...). So what's your favorite hot cereal on an icy winter morning, and what do you like to put in it? When I was a kid, I loved cream of wheat with sugar and butter. I also liked oatmeal that way. I still like both, but I enjoy oatmeal more than cream of wheat now. I'm also a big fan of grits, which most people make as a side dish -- I make it alone sometimes. As a kid I liked butter and sugar in my grits. Now I prefer salt, pepper, butter and a little crumbled bacon if I have it. How about you?

allot of the time in the morning I don't have much time to eat breakfast so I normally eat something once i am at school(normally something like a granola bar) But if I have time to eat something at home I eat oatmeal with milk and sugar. but I never buy plain oatmeal I always eat the brown sugar and cinnamon.

Winter, summer or rainy - it does'nt matter - i'm accustomed to eating same kind of food on all the seasons. wheat and rice are the chief sources of food in India, so it has to be something cooked of them. You'll not understand if i name them all...LOL!

I've never had cream of wheat. I have had grits, and don't really like the texture, but I do like oatmeal. I'll put all sorts of stuff on oatmeal. Honey or brown sugar are my favorites, but I'll also mix in fruit, like raisins or strawberries, sometimes cinnamon. There is an oatmeal festival in January at a town near my house. They have a huge oatmeal mixing bar where you get a bowl and have a TON of toppings to choose from. I think I put a little bit of everything on mine! I can't wait to go again next year!

i am in japan right now so, i somewhat have adopted a sort of breakfast set that is rice, soup and a bit of vegetable salad. banana usually comes as a dessert and of course, tea - it has become like water to me as the Japaneses do.

Oatmeal, cream of wheat, cream of rice with milk and brown sugar or maple syrup and sometimes some fruit. Also, grits with salt, pepper and butter. Yummy yummy I eat em all year long but especially on cold days. And not just for breakfast but as a midafternoon snack, specially if I've been out in the cold all day.

I love oatmeal with brown sugar and milk on it, and the same with white rice! My kids love it! But I can't get them to eat cream of wheat or grits....
