A Bridge Too Far

Last night we watched A Bridge Too Far on our local cable station. It was a free viewing. Hubby loves movies without commercial interruption. Much of this movie took place in Holland during the Nazi invasion. Hubby was oooing and awing over the sites of the villages and other places. The movie was haunting for me. It was a stark look into the tragedies of war. I knew that this was based on actual happenings and it bothered me even more. Have you ever seen this movie? Do you like watching movies based on actual facts or those that are fictional?

I do not like war movies, or real movies of any tragic genre. I prefer humor, musical, romantic fiction. I am sure your movie was meaningful to hubby because of the reality, because he could see what his country suffered through.

Our friend said that they show this movie every year in Holland. It is a significant movie to their history.

A bridge too Far - A bridge too far is an old war time Classic.
I have seen this movie at least twice, if not more. It was quite old, but one of the classics. I have always been affected by these movies that are fairly accurate. It certainly gets to me emotionally.

I don't, as a rule, like to watch movies that deal with war, Elusive, but I have made exceptions when it comes to some movies. I have never seen A Bridge Too Far, but I know it is supposed to be a good movie. I think that war is a terrible thing and find it hard to understand how these types of movies can be so popular while we are involved in an ongoing war.

I have not watched this movie, but I love to watch movies based on actual facts. Because they tell us the truth about what has happened in history for us to know more of the sufferings so that we can avoid such sufferings from happening again.
