Favorite, or atleast good, authors?

I love John Irving, he has an easy going writing style. I have many favorites as I went through a stage of trying different genres a few years back. I recently enjoy a lot of chic lit, marian Keyes etc as I find it the easiest to read. I don't need to think too hard when reading. I also love Jodu Picoult, she tends to write strange trick or twist novels. My most memorable book to read lately as Shadow of the Wind, I thouroghly enjoyed that.
