I've knitted gifts for others in the past, but I won't this year. Only a few in my family appreciate gifts like that, so I just decided to knit more for myself. Are you knitting gifts for Christmas? Or thinking about it?

Hi peavey. Last year, I knit purses for all the secretaries at work and they went ape! They just loved them. I used a pretty basic pattern with the bambo-looking purse handles and the Lion brand Fun Fur and lined them with an old tie-dyed t-shirt. They wer really cute. I even saved one for myself but haven't carried it. I just love knitting purses. I may try to do some this year but we have a big trip coming up and I just have no time to concentrate on knitting right now. But yes, I am seriously thinking about knitting some gifts. PearlGrace

Purses are a great idea. I've only made one in my life, guess I just don't think about things like that. I wonder if my daughter would like one... :)

See, I woud love it if someone would knit gifts for me. I am just learning how to crochet and so far I have only mastered the scarf. Last year I made matching scarves for my sisters and their american girl dolls and they loved them. It felt great to have them actually like them, so I am already working on making some blankies for them. They keep asking for large blankets for thier new beds so I hope I can get them done by christmas time.

That's a lot of crocheting, blankets are big projects! It does feel good when people like what you've made, doesn't it? My kids used to, but they're "all grown up," and have different tastes now.

I am knitting hats and scarves for Christmas. They're pretty basic cabled hats, so I think people will like them. And they don't take too long to make.
