is there a secret in getting referrals?

Im new here in mylot,I'm having a problem of getting as many referrals as I can. But others are showing to be good in this.. Is there any secret in getting referrals?

check my profile for a referal generating program, also write articles about the program you wish to get refs in and put a link in there.

I think that you can open a blog and speak about the site you want to get referrals. If you promote your blog in a lot of forums you could get a lot of referrals.
