It's So Gloomy Here, Ugh!

For the last few days it's been so gloomy cloudy like and still no rain! We desparately need the rain some kind of bad but yet it's not happening. Water restrictions are everywhere. Can't water the lawn or wash our cars, nothing or if we get caught we'll get a hefty fine. So since I'm so close to the Virginia border I went there and went to a car wash because my car is so dirty!! Or was but not anymore. But you know, even though we need the rain so badly I still wish California would get it because of the wild fires they're having. It's pitiful what they're going through. I saw a reporter on tv standing in front of his house saying "This is my house or what's left of it" then my eyes went blank for I couldn't read it anymore for I felt terrible for him. I'm legally deaf and it's closed captioned that I'm "reading". Just wanted to clarify that for ya. ;) Anyway, it makes me so sick to my stomach to see such things. We really need to stop and smell the roses people because we don't know how long we have what we do have so we need to appreciate life a bit better. I'm praying that we get rain but I'm praying more for the people in California that they get it quicker than us. Are you thinking of them? Also, is it gloomy where you're at?

Yes, you better believe I'm thinking of the people in California--they get plagued by those Santa Ana winds and have wildfires all the time...but it's never been this bad..close to half a million people have had to evacuate their homes....I'm also in the back of my mind thinking of all the animals that might be perishing as well--I think it strikes home for me a bit...my father (now deceased) was born in the San Diego area, and I was born in Garden Grove ...so hey...that's my home/birth state---so many homes were destroyed...multi-million dollar estates....yikes.

Yeah I thought about the animals too after I already pushed the start discussion button. (frown) Anyway, I can see how it would strike home with you Pyewacket being that it's your home state. Gee if it were my home state, it would me too - well maybe not because I don't care much for it other than it's beauty but that's about it.
Grandpa - Keep us in touch about your sister now! I pray she's not near that horrible mess!

No rain in 8 months? WOW. That's incredible! What do you do for water during the drought? I love to learn about different countries and how things are done so do tell! :)

thank u..well its always dry in here![were in the dessert. but thank God we have ample of water supply! though the cost of water is way too expensive! But during winter[we dont have snow! :(] rain pours for 4 days straight! and its cold so we actually save lots of water cause we water the plants twice a week!

Did you say where you live? I live in Ocala, FL and it has been pretty gloomy here too. Muggy outside all day. Raining off and on!

I'm in North Carloina... A few hours after I started this discussion it started raining and it's been every since. Right now it's coming down really hard and I hope we get caught up which I think we will.

I am in Baltimore Md.Not way too far away from you.It has been raining on and of allday yesterday and today.I sure wish I had a heavy duty fan to blow some rain clouds your way.Then you could blow them to California.It is so heartbreaking to so all those houses and beautiful land burned away.Not to mention the animals.O.K. my screen is getting blurry now.By the way I love you avatar!

Your wish is THE command! A few hours after I started this discussion it started raining! lol Now if I can get that heavy duty fan going again maybe I can send it west to California. That would be so awesome!

even in my country India its been gloomy since a few dats...but thankfully it has started raining now...its actually raining outside wen i type tis msg..i just wish lik goin out n getting wet in the rain...

It started raining here a few hours after I put up this discussion and right now it's really raining hard. We really need it but California needs it even more and I pray that they get some.

I just responded to a friend in San Diego, and he posted pics that show his truck covered in ashes. Your attitude is very generous. I am wishing and praying for relief for both the east and west. I saw this am that Georgia had gotten some rain. Not a lot, when I was watching, but it was something. I wish you all well, and lets all pray for rain.

Well you're lucky in a sense. here in Minnesota we set a record for the most rain in October already. Also set a record for the most rain in the 3 months of Aug, Sept, & Oct. It's been so lousy here for the past few months. we had a beautiful day this morning and afternoon. Then about 5 it turned cloudy and very very windy. I even brought my flag in as it was blowing into my tree branches from the strong winds. It's supposed to be sunny all this week finally. The weather has been hell for those down south and now the winds in Calif are turning bad for the fire fighting.

Isn't that something Grandpa? One place gets too much rain and in others there's not enough. Kind of want to yell up at the sky and say "Hey God! Fix it, will ya?!" LOL
Well believe it or not, the clouds finally opened up here and let go of the rain! It's raining here now! Thank goodness it's finally raining!! Yippee! Now if my other wish would come true and rain in California I'd be one happy camper!

Here is Georgia we are also on very strict watering schedules. To top it off the Army Corp of Engineers is taking so much of our water for endangered shellfish in Florida!! We are all praying for rain but I am with you I really hope it rains first (or take the water from endangered species) to help out in California. I saw the poor people on the Today show who have lost everything. All day I have felt really bad for them.

We have gotten some rain the last couple of days. It no where near makes up for what we are behind. It was over 16 inches below normal weeks ago and we have not had a lot of rain, maybe 2 or 3 inches at most.
I haven't heard of anyone local having a well go dry and we have no local restrictions but near-by areas have them. I have stopped watering my plants outside for the most part. They look awful, but I'd hate to run out of water!
I have been watching the fire reports on the news. It is just awful. I have had a home fire and know many that have. It is devastating! My mother was burnt also, and that was just AWFUL! She was in so much pain and had to spend a long time in the hospital and received a lot of after care as well.
I feel deeply for those in California who are any where near those fires!

We finally got rain last night a few hours after I started this discussion and right now we're being pelted with rain. I think we're going to get caught up or darn near it. My grandmother ran out of water one time and had to have someone bring some to her to fill her well. It cost her a pretty penny too. Back in her day when a person ran out of water, the fire department brought some to you but it's against the law now. That's Virginia for ya. So she had to have some water company bring it.
Now if we can just push this rain over to California then my wish will have come true.

Yeah its pretty gloomy here also but we were told that rain is coming in the next 2 days and should be getting some 2nite. We have reached the restriction as of yet but to b on the safe side of things I've been bottling water and putting them in storage.

Well the clouds decided to open up and give us some badly needed rain tonight! Yup! It's finally raining here! Yippee!!

Here in the UK we have seen the news reports of the fires out there in California and all I can think is the dreadful devastation. Right now our lunchtime news is showing scenes of the fire out of control and destroying homes. If ever they needed heavy rain, it is now.

I'm in Maryland and it's gloomy here too.
Also without any rain.
I kind of like it though weirdly. I guess it's because we haven't had much in terms of fall temperatures so I just like the gloomy because it sort of makes me feel like that's fall weather you know?
But the lack of rain does suck.
I live in Maryland ... and you live near the virginia border so I guess our weather is similar if not the same.

Yeah it's the same or real close to it. I hate it when it's gloomy like this because I feel so tired all the time and want to sleep sleep sleep. UGH!! lol The fall tempetures are great so far but it can change like a yo yo and probably will in the later months.
It's finally raining here now! Yippee! I'm so loving it! Now maybe we'll see the sun tomorrow... That would be so cool after days of this gloomy-ness.

I think the weather where I am is going to clear up by friday and be sunny for the weekend.
It's raining today and I think it's supposed to continue tomorrow.
THEN... it'll be over.
But I'd just like it to at least stay in the 60's. It's almost the end of the october, we don't need 70's weather anymore.
