Faerie Garden - Faeries flitting about the garden.

It's not been too good a fortnight, one way and the other. First a lovely lady and a friend who lived in the Village, left us for the Otherworld, two Mondays ago... then last week, a very special friend lost his Mum, early on the Wednesday morning, and this morning, I, myself wasn't feeling too great. I'm still not the best I've ever been but happenings certainly helped me to weather the storms. The postman came, and posted one letter through the door, but there was no knock. Then later, I had to go down to put the bin bag in the garbage trolley when I noticed that there, on the doorstep, sat a package, from the States. I didn't recognise the address, so thought it was samples for my business. Hmmmm, but it was quite big and heavy for that. So, I opened it up.... WOW!!! It was an album-type book, purple in colour with silver and purple flowers and opaque-plastic ovals, with faeries beneath. I read beneath the central faery, "Fairyopolis, A Flower Fairies Journal." Hmmmmm, who sent this? I wasn't expecting anything like this... and where had it come from? It was a total surprise! Strange that I wrote a discussion on surprises a short while back!I opened the cover... double-WOW! On the inside front cover was a letter from a Cicely Mary Barker, in Croydon, Surrey, to the British Faerie Folklore Society, in Brighton, Sussex, dated 6th January, 1923. Cicely Barker was an artist, fascinated by faeries, who published her first book of pictures, "Flower Fairies of the Spring", later that year. She had during the Summer of 1920, spent time at a cottage called The Bartons, whilst her friends were away on holiday. The cottage was in the countryside, in Storrington, a village in West Sussex, not too far from where I live. The journal is in her handwriting, with added bits and pieces, like maps, faery dust, pictures she had taken, etc., and bears the inscription, "This Journal Belongs To Cicely Mary Barker."Under that, was a note to me... I'm sure my dear friend and Sis won't mind me showing you this.... To My Sis Pat,We may be a world apart but our spirits are always near. Love Peggy 2007 That was a total surprise and so thoughtful, I couldn't read the rest for a while, for the tears, but needless to say, I have now read it from front to back, examined all the little bits and bobs included and now know that what I've seen is definitely the little folk! Have you seen any tell-tale signs in your garden, or elsewhere? Believe and you will also be surprised someday!!!

Oh that is lovely what a beautiful gift and just when you needed it the most, that really is beautiful, it is nice when you have people in your life that cares about you so much that they would do something like this..that really is lovely I think you should keep it going and do something similat for someone, I have always thought when someone does something nice for you pass the gesture on, think how nice the world would be if every one did that....

I already surprised her, with a special eastern, decorated glass perfume bottle and perfume oil, so I guess she saw this journal and thought it would be a nice surprise for me, back. It was a really lovely gift to receive. :) I also wrote a poem for my friend when his Mum passed on last week, and we're always exchanging small gifts. I think it's really nice to do that, and yes, you're right, the World would be a much better place for that type of gesture. Brightest Blessings.

All my relatives are from the 'Old Country' and I was raised with a belief in the existence of the unseen realms and all the inhabitants within it. When David and I have been in the garden or out in nature in the early morning we have seen puffs of mist...movement among toadstools and discovery of feather that were not there only a moment before. We absolutely accept that it is a gift from faeries or other little people that show their connection to us...because of our appreciation for them. We have had gifts from nature 'show up' and we know that they are gifts from allies in who assist us in keeping our garden thriving. We honor their presence and make sure all the elements of earth, air, fire, water and metal are kept in energetic balance. The veil is thin....for those who accept that! Great topic...good to hear about your lovely surprise and I loved the image. Love, light and blessings Soul Sister of mine! Raia

Yes, the veil is thin and at Samhain it will be at its thinnest for the second time this year... and since last Samhain, I feel I've been blessed by the faeries. Why? Simply because I put gifts out for them, of food and little crystals, and by morning on Samhain, all had gone. The food was a part of what I'd put aside for travelling spirits, which incidentally, disappeared as well. There were signs of my apple core having been dug up??? There were other signs as well... but then, Spring came early in my garden and flowers and foliage were really abundant this year. The lilac and orange blossom were fantastic, as were the polyanthus and lavender... and the roses bloom still, in late October. They won't be long going now because frosts have started, but the Hollies are laden heavily with clusters of red berries and my garden has been great... I think I owe all that to the little folk. :) I received your package, my dear friend. Wow... thank you for that. Two packages in two days is some going! :) Brightest Blessings and many thanks for an equally treasured gift... also equal to the air and nature. hmmmmmm. :) xx

I had to come back and mention the mysterious appearance of wild strawberry plants x three large, and two redcurrant plants in my garden... both fruited quite abundantly and I have no idea how they got there. It could have been birds, but then......... needless to say, I believe! :)

Thank you, Purple... yes it was good timing... I sat and read the whole thing straight through as well. It was kind of soothing and magickal, and certainly almost on a par with my Book of Treasured Words. :) Brightest Blessings.

Oh, what a lovely special and perfect gift. I like to imagine fairies, but do not see them. I liked to pretend when I was young. I do love things like beautiful albums, though, and I also like to know of sisters sharing such terrific moments and surprises. I think I saved a link to the Flower Fairies website, on one of my two computers. Thanks for sharing your wonderful surprise.

Yes, a really special gift, my friend. Peggy's not my real sister... she calls me her Sis (as in Soul Sister). She's a very close and special friend of mine, who lives in Washington State. I'm not sure how she knew that Storrington was so close to my heart... she'd know Brighton, but I guess she looked the other places up. It's almost as though I went out and bought the journal myself. :) There might well be a website for Cicely Mary Barker. I'll have to have a surf later. :) Brightest Blessings.

Such a wonderfull suprise and very unexpected especially a slight shock to see it just being there on your doorstep. Not suprising that that sort of gift brings tears to your eyes being such a sensitive person that you are. You will treasure that gift I'm sure.

Yes, a really appreciated gift which I will treasure for the rest of my days, Deeeky. I think it was the thought that went into it, being it came from so close to my own doorstep originally, and yet a friend in the States managed to find it? That's what started the tears off. It's like a museum piece... its pages are faded, the ink blobs are still there, there is a photograph of the journal keeper in the book, and the receipt stamp is shown. Ok... it's been re-published but that somehow doesn't take away the authenticity which the writer has managed to capture in the book. It's large in size too, like a file, eleven and a half inches by ten inches. Indeed, a gift to treasure and pass on to my grandchildren. Brightest Blessings, my dear friend. x

What a blessing Peggy is to you! That is such a thoughtful thing to do, and shows what a lovely person she is. Your soul sister relationship is a treasure in itself. I have a couple of girlfriends who have always been there for me, and who have shown me through the years, the extent of their love and faithfulness to me. Loyal friends are worth their weight in gold! I saw the Fairyopolis book in the Costco close to where I live a few months ago, and it is really a fascinating book. It kept me occupied for hours while hubby went and did the food shopping (heehee!). I was not allowed to buy it (not yet anyway) because we're on a tight budget as I was very ill and not earning. Enjoy your book I'm sure the Little People whispered in Peggy's ear to let her know what you will love...Blessed be we! :-D

Awwwwww, I wish you could have afforded to buy it. You're right... it certainly is the most fascinating book, and I'm sure the little folk did whisper to Peggy. :) Brightest Blessings, my friend. x

The thing is, I hadn't seen her in a while, and she had no idea how I was feeling. I guess she just came across this journal and related it to where I live. It's strange how things like that happen, don't you think? Still a great surprise though and one I will treasure. Brightest Blessings my friend. x

You're quite welcome... it's nice to share pleasant things in the midst of world crises. It just goes to show that there is a little more love in the world than there is hate, and war. Brightest Blessings, my friend.
