I recently lost my young (3 1/2 years young) sable & white collie to a possible heart attack/aneurysm. I loved him so very much & miss him terribly. We have an old (about 10) female we got from a collie rescue group & we are getting a collie puppy early next year. I just wanted to hear from all of you who have collies as companions. I'd love to hear stories about your collie. Thinking about our boy Willie puts a smile on my face. They are sweet, lovable & fun!

I no longer have my collie, but her name was Fancy. She was adopted and the runt of her litter. Beautiful, orange and white - typical collie markings - and a little on the small side, she was a constant companion. I loved her because she always had this quiet way of just being there and laying her head in my lap to be petted. She loved to play Frisbee, ha, and she ate everything. Such a sweetheart. I miss her terribly and completely understand how you miss your Willie.

I'm so sorry to hear about your Fancy. Those collies are something special. Our lab mix Snickers has managed to wiggle into my heart & now I love her as much as I loved Willie. I still miss Willie now & again especially if I see a collie. Hang in there. Dogs are the best.

I miss her terribly as I'm sure you miss your lost collie, and yes, they are fantastic dogs. But it sounds like your new dog is quite the charmer. Dogs themselves are just great companions.

Although mine was a Border Collie he lived until he was 17 and would probably have lived longer if it were not for a mistake by a vet. I have every sympathy with you as it's like losing your best friend. We said at the time we couldn't go through it again but 6 weeks later we found we couldn't be without one either so give a home to a rescued a 10 year old collie cross.

I'm so sorry for the loss of your border collie. It is so hard, isn't it? Good for you for rescuing the collie mix. We have a 10 year-old collie we got through collie rescue. She is wonderful & we often wonder what she went through before coming to live with us.

I love my Collies.. they are so sweet and gentle.. I like they way they nibble on you.. And although it could be annoying I think it's cute they way they drink their water and with having such a long nose I figure it works like a straw.. because when they walk away from the water dish- there always seems to be left over water in there -that drips all over the floor.. LOL I have always wanted a collie since I was little. I think they are one of the most gentle dogs in the dog kingdom. And the most beautiful! I have a sable and white and a tri and my half collie is a tri headed white. I would love to get a blue merle someday...
