Evan and Two of His Helpers - Cute Movie

Evan Almighty I have just finished watching this movie and as I did not know what to expect was pleasantly surprised as I really enjoyed it. I only know Steve Carell from his TV show "The Office" and he he really did a great job in the movie. The wisecracks from Wanda Sykes as his assistant were hilarious. Has anyone seen? What did you think of it? Netflix description: In director Tom Shadyac's raucous follow-up to the 2003 comedy Bruce Almighty (also helmed by Shadyac), God (Morgan Freeman) summons narcissistic newscaster turned congressman Evan Baxter (Steve Carell) to build an enormous ark in preparation for a devastating flood. Unfortunately, Evan's perplexed family interprets his latest hobby as a midlife crisis gone wrong rather than as a divine assignment from the man upstairs.

I have the same opinion, too. I expected it to be boring, but they have VERY good quotations. Plus there are hilarious scenes, too he he he he... One of my fave quotes from the movie is this: "How do you change the world? By doing one act of random kindness at a time." I also recommend watching this movie. ;-D

That is so funny, I saw this movie, or at least most of it, at work last night. I was enchanted. I thought about starting a discussion, but here you are with yours. The people I saw the movie with were well taken with it as well. I never saw Bruce Almighty, so I may have to look for it. Was it as good as Evan Almighty?

Forgot to say if you only saw part of it then you probably missed the the ending which was really good, even when they were showing the credits at the end there were really funny scenes mingled in with them.

I saw the beginning and the end, it was about 35 minutes of the middle I missed. I loved the end.

I think the movie was hilarious at first. You're right about Steve Carell's performance. It was a great one from him. However, I was kind of surprised with the ending. It seemed to lose its momentum. It was like building up the story and suddenly it collapsed. I wasn't really satisfied with the ending. It was a very minor calamity for all the effort that he got himself into. I don't know. This is just my opinion after all.

I thought that saving all the locals from drowning was the main point. Catching the bad guy was, to me, just part of it. It did show all the homes being destroyed. At least that is what I got out of it.

I haven't seen this movie yet, but it is in my Blockbuster que. I can't wait to see it. Are you going to see the new movie coming out with Steve Carell? The name of it is Dan in Real Life. That one looks great, too!

I'm glad to hear a review on this movie. My hubby and I saw the empty shelves at the video store and wondered if it was a good movie or not. So many movies that are out now are not very good ones. Last night we watched the new one with Kevin Costner, he plays a serial killer. It was a very disturbing movie to say the least. It was done well, but it was disturbing to think that there are actually people who think this way. Great movie role for Demi Moore too. I will have to rent Evan Almighty as soon as the new wears off, it will not be available for a few weeks here I am sure. Have a great week heather!

I watched it just a few days ago and like you I didn't know what I should expect of it either. To may of the movies I have seen here lately turned out to be a total flop.....but this one ended up being a pretty good movie. Most of the times the previews are really the best parts and I could have saved my time and money.I don't think it was as good as the first one....but it was worth watching none the less.
