I was at as local nature center Sunday for some rest and relaxation and to hopefuklly get some great wildlife photos. But only saw a few critters of the everyday variety. This is a common rodent, the squirrel. They have a feeding area where people aren't allowed except in the enclosure to watch the animals eat. I took this photo after many attempts to get a clear shot as he was standing right in the glass watching me. he was like 6 inches away at times staring at me. I always got a glare or too fuzzy a shot. Then he walked away sitting on this rock. And lo and behold he sat up like squirrels do. I love this shot. I love squirrels except when my wife buys peanuts in the shell then feeds them. They are burying them in my lawn and digging like mad. But thats easily repaired with minimal damage. Do you like squirrels in your yard? Do you feed them anything at all? They can be very entertaining to watch.

I have lots of things come up in my yard courtesy of squirrels and birds. The squirrels have mostly left me black walnut trees. We have just decided to try critter corn ears for the squirrels, but they have not dicovered it yet.

Give them time. They'll find the corn and be munching away soon I'm sure. I hate walnut trees myself. They tend to get messy. Hard to mow the lawn without first checking it for walnuts all over. Ughhh!

As far as the comment you left on my p[hoto, this is a common
grey squirrel. We also have brown squirrels here. The browns
aren't as prolific here though. They are usually further North
of the cities in rural areas.

Naturally we don't get squirrels in Australia. I have a very similar photo to yours. I took this very cute photo of a squirrel when I was at the Grand Canyon, & I still have it on display.
When I was staying with my friend in Rochester, New York, she had squirrels in her back yard.
They certainly are cute.

At the local parks in the cities the squirrels are so used to humans that they will climb on your body begging for food if you're eating. I used to sit on the grass feeding them peanuts. I'd have them on my shoulder walking around feeding them. It was cute. Thanks again for the comment on my photo as usual. Very reliable for them you are.

I have tons of squirrels in my yard and don't mind feeding them either. It's weird but I have a feeling winter isn't going to be as cold as it usually is. Usually, I never find any walnuts on the ground for me to collect and eat over the winter but this fall I'm finding loads of walnuts all over but not many squirrels hurrying to bury them all.

I love squirrels...they are cute and fun to watch! I do feed them a little bit once in a while. The other day I saw one trying to carry three walnuts....he dropped them and then came back and had to make two more trips....it was so cute!

That was cute sounding. But be careful feeding them. When I
was a child mom fed a couple and they eventually found their
way inside the house raising havok by tearing so much wood trim up.

That's great GrandPa, I always want to take pictures here on some of our local wildlifes but haven't got much time to do so.
One rainy day, I was about to take a picture of a creture that is not commonly seen here in our place. It was a leech, but when I got the camera my mom got a stick and told me that she threw it away on the other side of the fence. I was totally surprised, all I did was simply smile for my mother's reaction after seeing the leech..
