It is so hot here in our place now. I saw people doing their best to combat the hot tempearture. They were into excessive sweating and mostly irritated. In this situation, which will you prefer, aircon or electric fan? Considering the many advantages and disadvantages of both.

I prefer to use electric fan, though aircon is quite good to use especially during hot weather. Electric fan consumes smaller amount of electricity when compared to aircon. We have one electric fan at home and we used this more often. Have a nice day and God bless!

It depends on the level of hotness.

i would support airconditioner compared to the elctric fan bcause it gives much more cooler air compared to fan and also it sets the temperature to optimum so as to avoid any heat but the biggest disadvantage is the freons released by the air conditioners which are very harmful compared to the electric fan to the ozone layer ofcourse electric fan doesnt cause any such harm

That's a good point to consider. It's the first time I've known about it.

Definitely I'll go for aircon. When it's very hot, I find that electric fan doesn't help at all, as the whole atmosphere is really very hot. But, switching on aircon does help to cool the whole room, and make you feel better. Well, the one reason that I don't go for aircon is the electricity bill. But I will usually choose to make myself more comfortable first, before thinking of the bill. Or, I'll turn on the aircon for about 2 hours, let the room be cold, then I turn it off. It will be less expensive.

I guess it is a bit cold there right now because my mother said that it has been raining for 2 weeks when I called them last week. If I am correct also, there is a typhoon right now there. Well, I wish I can have some of the hotness there and I can share to all of you guys some of our coldness here... anyway, I would for sure prefer aircon for hot weather but I hate the big electricity bill... good day to you...Pinay here...

aircon and electric fan! I use both since my airconditioning unit is only half horse power. It keeps me sane knowing that even if I end my work almost noon and I know it is really hot, I can still get some good day sleep.

I see. I could not tolerate, too the fact that it is too hot sometimes.

i prefer a AC to a gan in hot weathers.its keep the air circulation and also the whole room cools-keeping my head cool.an electric fan only attracts air which is out side which is mostly hot but AC conversts the hot air to cool and cools allover.

I live in a tropical country and there are days that the heat is just unbearable. Fortunately, we have an airconditioner and I usually use this especially when it's past noon. This is the time when the heat can be very stifling. But as what you've said using them can have its disadvantages. And the main disadvantage of relying on this kind of equipment is the high electricity bill we have to pay. So, to make sure that we don't pay that much, I only open the airconditioner for a few hours and then turn it off then just open the electric fan. That way, the room still feels cool.

That is what it I am also considering. The costs of using airconditioner.

I lived in a tropical country and the weather here is just two: sunny and rainy. When its summer the temperature is so hot that you wouldn't want to go outside. It is so hot that using an electric fan is not enough to cool you off. Best way is to use aircon.

Good for you. But perhaps you can also use electric fan even if it is sunny. That is if the temperature is not too hot.

Hi Izathewzia! Well Im like many people that you mentioned here, Im irritable when its hot! I get really cranky and dont want to talk, move or do anything but be cool!! lol I run the air conditioning in the warmer months, and plus I run a fan. This wrecks havoc on my energy bill, but its something that I dont mind paying extra for. I would rather be comfy and not miserable. I run a box fan in a couple of rooms to circulate the aircon so I dont have to keep it at a cooler temp. This helps, but only a little bit, my energy bill is still too high. Im dreading the winter months, the heating bill is probably going to be even higher. UGH! :( Bay Lay Gray xx

Yes, better use aircon if you cannot tolerate the heat than live in misery.

i'd prefer of course aircon over electric fan. In my country we have a tropical climate here so summer can be very very hot. Much as I would like the privilege of using an aircon i can't due to financial constraints. It's affordable to buy an aircon unit but i don't think i have the capacity to pay the monthly electric bill. Given this predicament, I stick to using the electric fan.

High cost of electricity and ability to buy an aircon unit are most common considerations.

We are getting on to cooler weather now in Kansas. I prefer most of the time to use fans. This year we used the a/c for less than a month in part of our house. A little more in the downstairs. I try to drink cool drinks, be in the shade, find a breeze and go swimming to keep cool. Usually by bed time a fan is sufficient for sleeping. It costs less to run, and it is more natural.

Well, i prefer to use the aircon but electricity is very expensive... so during the day time, we use the electric fan... but at night, so that my daughter and i will have a very good sleep... we use the aircon...i wish we can use i the whole day but that might drain all our money away...

I think that it is more effective to use air-conditioner as we can enjoy more of the coolness though it costs more power. At least you can enjoy yourself if you don't care much about the electricity fee. Of course it is much cheaper to use electric fans and it won't make you suffer from the bad effects from staying long in a room equipped with air conditioner. We are now having our Autumn and I am glad that it is cool now, which is the best season that I like.

I agree with you. Aircon is only best when it is really super hot and you want a comfortable temperature. But the cost of electricity kills. lol

I absolutely hate air conditioning it makes me sick and I get congested. I like hot weather and can stand the heat. Unfortunately my boyfriend is hot all the time and runs the air 24/7 so every chance I get I'll turn it off and open the windows. I'd prefer a fan because it doesn't make me sick. My mother's house has ceiling fans in ever room and I like those.
