Giuliani has raised $47million. Hasn't spent any on tv ads, but rented D.C.'s Hard Rock Cafe for a fund raiser at a cost of $62,386. Spends an average of $112,101 daily. Romney raised $63million. For Iowa Straw Poll, he spent $33,387 on BBQ, $6,162 on a climbing wall and 2 moon bounces for kids. Spends an average of $196,382 daily. McCain raised $32million. His campaign is $1.7million in debt. He spent $972 at Dunkin Donuts. Spends an average of $104,894 daily. Thompson raised $13 million. He spent $3,100 on parking. Spends an average of $46,773 daily. Clinton raised $91 million. She spent $4,400 on bottled water. Spends an average of $148,251 daily. Obama raised $80 million. He reported a $9.30 charge for copies made at Bill Clinton's Arkansas Presidential library. Spends an average of $161,792 daily. Edwards raised $30 million. He's been more careful since his $400 haircut, but still spent almost $900,000 on charter jets. Spends an average of $65,685 daily. (Oct. 29, 2007 Newsweek Magazine) Is this important to know? or is it just a way for Newsweek to fill it's pages?

I think it is important to know, and Newsweek found something interesting to fill its pages with. I would be happy to have the cut that Dunkin Donuts got. It is no wonder these people are out of touch with the real world. I could build and entire new town out of one that got destroyed with almost any one of them.

Poster #1 makes an excellent point and is probably right. To that let's add another or two. The amount of money raised shows these folks are going to owe a lot of favors to a lot of people who donated. The amounts being spent daily shows these guys don't know how to spend money effectively. I think it shows we do not want any of them! BTW: Former Senator William Proximire of Wisconsin once ran a campaign where he claimed to have spent only one dime, 10 cents, or 1/10 of one dollar! That was in a public phone booth. He managed this by listening and serving his constitutients so well no one running against him stood a chance. I'd like to see more politicans try that approach.

Well, it can be interesting to see, at the end of the movie, if the spending and the votes are correlated.

I think Newsweek must have had a slow day. This is definitely a filler and will probably be included in some future trivia game. An in depth look at the candidates stances on the issues would probably have been a better use of space for that magazine.
