Series downward spiral?

After watching the first few episodes of the season I have to ask everyone a question -- do you think that the series is going downhill fast?? Since Addison has left and started Private Practice, the drama and hold of the show really seems to lack intensity. With Addison around there was always something going on. Even the absence of Burke has really sacrificed a lot of tension that would have been entertaining to see. I realize that his character was put on the "black ball" list a long time ago, but it was hard to see him go so quietly. So, now that there are new interns and our favorite characters are coming into their own as residents, do you think the show will survive without the ex-wife and the ex-fiance characters? I can see some drama starting with Lexi Grey, but I just don't see it carrying the show. Also, with the recent comments by Patrick Dempsey, we have learned that the McDreamy and Grey romance is going to make a final turn at the end of the season. Patrick Dempsey made it sound like things are gone for good, but do you think that the show needs that to fuel it for upcoming seasons? I guess the whole situation reminds me of the Ross and Rachel relationship, but the Grey and McDreamy relationship got started too quickly for it to have the kind of staying power as the Friends deal. So what are your thoughts on the season so far? Where do you think it's all going?

This show is definently not as good as it has been in the past. The Meredith/Mcdreamy back and forth thing is getting old. And Addison and Burke were great characters that brought a lot of drama and energy to the show and now they are both gone and the show is suffering. i really liked the Burke/Christina relationship and the Addison/McSteamy possibility. I really hope this show doesn't go in the same direction as Desperate Housewives (I used to love that show and now I don't tune in at all).

I know what you mean about Desperate Housewives! I used to think that show was interesting, but then it became more and more like an out of control soap opera and I couldn't take it any more. What turned you off of the show?

I stopped watching Desperate Housewives bcause the storylines and plots just got silly and stupid. It was just too much going on and it wasn't making any sense.

i believe i have to agree with you on this one--the series Grey's Anatomy is definitely going downhill. not only are two of the coolest and most colorful characters absent (aka Dr. Richard Burke and Dr. Addison Montgomery)...but the plot is also going seriously desperate! i mean, come on--Izzie and George? can't they come up with a better twist than that? and whatever the heck happened to Meredith and Mcdreamy? their story has always been so nice, and the romance has beenwhat we could call "real"...but what's with the indecisions? the new season is turning out to be a big disappointment, folks...i only hope it would get better in the end...

I know what you mean about George and Izzie! I'm actually quite happy with the turn they've taken right now -- because their bedroom life is terrible and they can't figure out why :-P I think they might actually have to call it quits, but now that Callie has been fired I don't know what they're going to do with that spot. It's all pretty crazy if you ask me!

I have been disappointed with the show this season. Its not the must see television any longer and the ratings are down. The new characters aren't interesting to me at all. Patrick mentioned he is getting a new love interest, so will keep watching to see if that story line is well written. I think many fans will be turning the show off, as they like the romance between McDreamy and Grey.

I think you're right. The Meredith-McDreamy relationship rollercoaster was a lot of the reason that I got addicted to the show in the first place. Add the Burke-Christina relationship to that and I think that was how the show was successful for so long. I just don't think it's feeling "new" anymore. I'm still looking forward to the new love interest, too, but I really hope they can pick up the pace. Now that the Writer's Guild has gone on strike I don't know what to expect!

I think that you might be right on this one. Alot of the drama in the past episodes were with Addison and Burke. I think that there will be something started with the new Burke. I do like the whole Lexi/Alex thing that seems to be starting. I hope the show doesn't loose its appeal~ so far I have liked the new shows, but they haven't kept my full attention like the previous seasons.

I know what you mean about the shows not keeping your attention. The group of girls I watch it with and I have actually considered recording this while we watch The Office and Scrubs instead! That's a hard thing for us to handle because last season that thought never crossed our minds.

Ok, here is my two cents: I am loosing interest in watching this show too. It was horrible so far. I don't like Lexi character because she annoys me with how she's constantly after Meredith and seems like almost begging to exist. C'mon, be your own person! Izzy and her beau (I forgot his name) should just stay best friend. Their relationship now is so stale!!! Grey and McDreamy? I am confused with the games they played. The only characters left that showed any possibilities are Yang, Dr. Bailey, and Mcdreamy's best friend (the one that slept with his wife before). See, I am quickly lose all interest. (lol)
