emailed from a friend that is just beginning her mosquito problems for the year.We are past it here in NE USA but many still have it so here it is.. Ok ... Heres one for you GARLIC LOVERs Want a good effective mosquito control ?? Well here is a solution for use in a garden sprayer Mix : 3-4 oz garlic juice 1 oz vegtable oil (any kind) 1 teaspoon liquid non scented soap ( Basic H2 works best ) not detergent 1 gallon water Mix throughly While spraying keep mixture well mixed by agitation. For the Mosquito Control..spray around all vent inlets, foundation openings, porches, lanais. ( any access to inside of house) Forgot to mention this is good for TICKs also..won't kill them but will keep them out of your area.... Just add half again as much Garlic Juice to the formula and spray around the house's foundation, up around the walls, entery way, any post, fences ....tree trunks and shrubs. And don't forget to spray if you have wood piles. Once your done, go back over it again....yes two times.....then next spray in a week ....then every 3-4 weeks. For other pests... Spray late afternoon - evening time well before the critters wing about. Spray over lawn area and under all shrub vegetation.. .including underside of the leafs.....any aroma will be gone within an hour.....spray effects will last about a month. If you don't have anything but a garden hose sprayers mix as follows : Th smaller the container the less the formula If you have the real small one, and/or ,the ones without a dial, then add just the Garlic Juice 8-10 oz garlic juice 1-2 oz soap 4 oz oil Set dial for 2oz/per/gal, should last about 7 minutes..so GET Moving...... .... adjust amount to th size of container

Hi Raydene! Just wanted to say thanks for the mosquito control recipe with garlic. It has come at the right time for me as I live in Australia, up in Queensland, and we are just coming into summer here, so the mozzies are really bad, especially in the evening when you want to sit outside and enjoy a BBQ. I was interested to see that it can be used for ticks - we get them here also; my dog had one on her a couple of weeks ago but thankfully it was only a bush tick, not the paralysis tick, which can be deadly. I will mix some of this up and use it all during summer - thanks Raydene.

I've used garlic for a lot of things but never thought about it repelling mosquitoes. I'll keep this in mind for next year.

Garlic is supposed to be really good at repelling all kinds of unwanted critters. They used to say to give it to your pets to repel fleas, but this year I read that garlic is toxic to dogs and cats. I can see where this would probably repel lots of garden pests.
