How long do you spend on a good response?

It usually takes me a few minutes to think about the discussion before I start pounding away at the keyboard with my content.I am very curious though in finding out exactly how much time the majority of the people on here do spend on a good solid response to a discussion. Feel free to tell us all about your experience when it comes to stuff like this on here. I am sure it would be interesting to know this information.

I will spend as much time as I need to. Sometimes I can answer immediately, punch the keys and be done in under 5 minutes. Other times I have a lot to say and want to put more thought into it. I know I have spent 20-30 minutes on a single response many times since I've been here.

I thank you very much for your response. I believe it will be interesting others to hear from others on here that spend a great deal of time sifting through the discussions that are growing on a daily basis. See what curiosity does to the cat huh? :)

Naturally each one is different. Sometimes I don't even want to leave an answer after reading the discussion the author has started so I don't. I sometimes moved into action and have to speak immediately. There are times I want to speak but can't seem to put my feelings thoughts and ideas into words. So you can see it can be from a few short minutes to many more minutes. I don't know if this really answers your question; does it?

This depends on the topic of course. If it is some conceptual discussion I start framing the layout within my mind and organise it mentally before I start typing this . But if it is some mundane affair, or some sharing of experience, then it is a simple matter of writing while you recollect. If it is a viewpoint regarding a particular problem a fellow member faces , or a suggestion offered, then it takes more time than the last mentioned but less than a conceptual response. The most important thing for me is that I should feel that I have contributed to the discussion in a genuine manner.

I've just started out as well, but usually just a few minutes is all it takes me. I will take a little time to read over the other peoples responses too, especially when it's a discussion asking for advice. I want my contribution to be valueable to the person asking. So usually a few minutes to type but maybe a little more to get my thoughts together.

I like to look at others responses before I answer a topic, and give alot of thought to how I want to contribute. Today I opened a discussion, read it a couple of times, then deciding I wanted to be sure that my example was correct, I checked out a couple of websites. It is now two hours later and I have not responded yet as the topic opened up different responses I could. By tomorrow I will go back and try to find it again and respond to it. Most times I will take maybe 5 to 10 minutes thinking about what the topic is really about and to type my response.

With me, it really depends on what the discussion is about. I don't know any exact times, just some things take longer than others. If it's a subject that I'm really familiar with, I can type off a really good response quickly. If it's a discussion asking for advice, I usually think about what I'm going to say first, unless of course it's a situation that requires advice that I've given a lot. I give advice on several other sites on a daily basis, so I'm familiar with a TON of things that people commonly need advice for. You'd be surprised how often generic advice works, although I always try to personalize it to the person's exact situation. If the discussion is about something I'm not too familiar with, but can respond to, I usually have to take my time to respond. If the discussion only requires a short answer, I usually take my time to make it longer so I can get paid, lol! And with your discussion, I took the time to think about it and give a good explanation :)

It depends on how the passion takes me but once started it is only a minute or so. The real time consumer is reading the other topics and replys - but then that is what is fun here, reading what people all around the world think on a subject. I do notice that the bias on the replies can change after one good post that puts an alternative argument in a clear and precise way. People are swayed by a good argument which is of course what all good politicians know all about. haha

well to me it really depends on what the topic of the discussion is and how much i know about that topic.sometimes i feel like i write a book and sometimes i dont have too much info to put to the discussion,so it really varies.if it is a topic i really enjoy i can write away.

I am still pretty new but I type very fast. I would say around 1 minute is what it takes for a good answer.
