Okay I was in Downtown Anoka the other evening and they had their city lights on Main Street turned on. A house a few blocks away had their holiday lights on as well. So today (Saturday) I turned on the lights on my house etc for the holidays. I only left them on for an hour or so was it. I felt silly actually. But they may be on every evening now at sunset till Christmas. Who knows. Have you decorated and or turned on your outdoor lights yet? When will you if not already? Here is a shot of my house. I have other views of the house and yard that I will add to comments as time allows etc. HAPPY HOLIDAYS ALL!!

Lovely lights Bob. You have put a lot of effort into this. It would have been a big job putting them all up. Did you have any help? I know my hubby will need help with our lights. We have no where near as many as you. Our lights go around the gutter, of the whole front of our house. I am keeping my eye on other possible light purchases.

Thanks bunches also. No help at all. And none wanted actually. The
tree is done usually by my daughter wife and the grandsons. That's their job this time of year. Hee hee. Light up the night I say. HAHAHA!!

Wow, I live about 5 minutes from downtown Anoka! I'll admit that I am anxious for Christmas this year, but I am holding back on decorating until after Thanksgiving. I don't find it unusual for cities or stores to decorate early since they are trying to attract visitors or shoppers. If I see holiday lights on houses in November, I don't think twice about it. But if they are still up and on in March, well, that's a different story!

Wow. Small world. What city you live in? I am in C00n Rapids near Northtown Mall. I am a mile and a half west of the mall. I used to live in Anoka on 5th street until Oct 2003 when we bought this house.

I love the warm glow of Christmas lights. Yours are wonderful Bob! We have ours up and have lit them a couple of times. We have to buy a few more before we actually leave them on for any length of time. There were a few lights out on one of the strands. Time to get replacements.

I have had mine on for a couple nights now. I turn them on when it
gets dark then turn them off when we get home around 11 at night. Thanksgiving day I turn them on when I wake up then turn them off
the next morning. They stay on all day Thanksgiving. Also on Christmas eve they stay turned on till the morning of the 26th.

We are doing inflatables..they will go up right after thanksgiving...we had a lot of lights to put on the shrubs..but this year started some new landscaping.
Now instead of 8 foot high shrubs ...they are 1 foot. If we light them they will look like Charlie Browns Christmas tree

Last year my house was decorated with lights. It took 5 months to get someone to pull it down.

Being that I live in a cold climate that time of the
year I usually wait till March or April to remove mine.

We don't have any lights up yet. My husband always does that so I'm not sure when he'll put them up. One of our neighbors has theirs up already though and they had them turned on last night. We also rode by Phillip Morris (the place that makes cigs) and they have lights on all of their trees. My son just kept looking at them and kept saying his new word "wow". LOL

My lights won't be on at all in November. We received a notice from the city to not turn them on. I'm not getting a fine, as I can't afford it this year.

We live in an apartment and so I will be putting up a string of lights around my living room window (on the inside) and also lighting up our small fake tree. This will occur around December first and it will all stay up and be on at night until just after the new year (2nd or 3rd of January).
When I was a child and my parents still do this...there were trees put up all across the front of the house and trees and bushes as well. We would have a large real tree that we cut sown ourselves and it was put up a couple week before Christmas to come down just after New Years. I do miss the real tree and wish I had more room for decorations but...Ah well I do my best! :)
Happy Holidays to you also!

When we lived in the apartment lights would be in all the
windows inside the house. Then I also had lights all around
the edge of the celing in the living room and dining room
then of course the tree. So apartment living was no different
other than the lights were iondoors rather than outdoors.

We vary the tree year by year. We have cut our own down at a tree farm a few times. I just hate the needles all over the floor. HAHAHAHA!!
