12-year old girl killed herself because of poverty

This news story really disturbed our country in the past week. There was a 12 year old girl who hanged herself. When her family read her diary she was complaining of poverty and her desire to go to school but has no money for it. This is really a distrubing fact in our society. For a young girl to think of suicide and of escaping reality because her family is in dire state of living shows that these people are really in need. What has the government and other agencies has done to people living in poverty? Who is to blame?

Oh this is a very sad news..I know that some would rather finish their lives than to continue experiencing poverty which also kills them gradually. Hope government will do something about it to avoid happening this again...=(

Hi marissa! It really is a very disturbing and sad news. It makes us think what's going in our youth's mind. Maybe the pathethic state and problems of our society are robbing them of their youth and innocence. At a young age they have to cope with the sad realities in life.

What country is this story in. Because in the US public school is free and welfare is available to low income families. However I blame both the government and the family. The government should have gone in and did something, because someone had to have noticed that the child of twelve was not in school. However the government cannot help everyone because they dont know everyone is in poverty you have to go to them for help. The family should have noticed the depression she was going through and explained that everything would get better and prayed.

This very sad incident happened in the Phillippines. It was really alarming. We are robbing these kids of their youth and innocence because at a young age they feel helpless of their family situation. The whole society has a responsibility why these things happened.
