As my friends and some other members here know my dad recently got out of a nursing home. The main reason he was there was due to his immobility. he did not walk very much and after being hospitalized and bed ridden for a couple weeks he needed physical and occupational therapy. Well Social Serc=vices came through for us. A company called Home Health Care visited today for an evaluation of dads conditions, health, and needs. All told there will be someone out 2 times a week for bathing and physical and opccupational therapy. All covered. they are also looking inot an electrical bed etc for his assistance. So I will get a huge relief. But I still have to be here for him nearly 24 hours a day. I aksed if they'd baby sit him and it be paid. She got a laugh out of that. So I replied, well my daughter is not going to be pleased having to come here Sunday. I have that date with my wife Sunday for the Sawyer brown concert. I wish to take this opportunity to thank all members alike for all the prayers, thoughts, kind words, and especially for all the love shown towards dad, myself, and my family this past year or so here. It has helped greatly and was much needed as well. Thanks all. I love you.

Did they talk at all about being able to provide respite care for him? I mean, it is great that your daughter lives close enough to help out, but that may not always work out. Who stays with your dad when you pick up your wife at work? Is that pretty much a short enough time to let you leave him alone? Does he have a med alert or life alert button to push in an emergency? I hope you and your wife have a wonderful night out.

He is left home alone. He is mobile enough that I don't worry a lot about falls when we leave him for an hour or two. He can make it the 30 feet or so to his bed easily. He refuses to get Life Alert or whatever it's called. He hates paying for anything. He tells me "I will just stay on the floor till you get home." Oh werll he is hard headed. I can't force him to get that so be it.

Well, he does know that you will be coming back. It is not as if he would go outside, fall, and never be discovered. It makes sense.

Ummmm don't be so sure he won't go outside. That is why he is here actually. He fell at the farm and went outside and fell. He laid in the cold snow for 35 hours till a Bingo Buddy worried why he hadn't been at Bingo for 2 days in a row. So I do worry about him getting outside. He has yet to wander outside withoput telling me to this date. Thanks.

By the way, Meet my daughter. She (Minnie)is the first response here. Hee hee. She is a great young lady. I can trust her. Unless of course dad gets sick like he did in September when he vomited and deficated all over. Ewwww! Anyhow I won't go into details. It's all part of caring for a senior I guess. My dad pays me a little. Before he moved in with us I was working part time and he is paying me what I miss from paychecks. It would be a lot more now that he is paying now but it helps so I won't ask for a raise as of yet. Thanks.

I'm glad he was able to come home. I'm also glad that home health care was able to come in and help some. My aunt used to do that line of work. She would go in the patient's home and help them out with certain things. I know you'll still have to be there all the time for him but at least you'll be getting some help and not have to do it all on your own.

Oh that is so sweet. Personally there is no thanks needed for the support of a friend. It has been tough while for you and we all need support during those times. But the sentiment is appreciated! I am glad to see that your humor is still in tact and that you and wife are going to be going on a date. That is very nice of your daughter to fill in for you.

I know but I love thanking people when they have done something great for me in any way, shape, or form. It's been very tough, streddful, and one hell of a ride these past 6 months or more for me. My humor will never waver. That's part of what makes me get through things life throws at me. Thanks again bunches.

Oh I know about that sense of humor...Lord knows if I didn't have it I would have been in a worse way many times. It's important to find humor in all things because it sure eases the pain.

Wow....it's all falling in place and what a relief for you! Sounds like everything will be covered at least the help part too! I do think though....you can get respite care..an adult babysitter through Social service or another dept. I know someone who has it and it's not that bad for cost of them to help you out. Good luck! Sounds so positive!

Great News Grandpa Bob,
I am so happy to hear that things are working out, and services will be being provided that your dad really needs. It is too bad that none could watch him even if it's just a few times a week as it is important for you and your wife to get a break once in a while. Hope you have a great time at the concert!
Luv & Hugzz, Your Friend, PurpleTeddyBear.
