Last Thursday I went over to my Aunts house for cookie making day. We make cookies to sell for the church. I love oatmeal, chocolate chip, and snickerdoodles. One of my family members made some oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. I had never had any before so I tried one and they were so good. I think it's my favorite now. Do you have a favorite cookie? Do you get together with family/friends and make cookies for the holidays?

Here is a recipe for snickerdoodles. You should try and make them because they are yummy. You don't know what you are missing. Let me know how you liked them if you make them ok. Dough: 1/2 cup each butter and shortening (or margarine), at room temperature. 1 1/2 cups sugar 2 eggs 1 1/2 teaspoons cream of tartar 1 teaspoon baking soda 1/4 teaspoon salt 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour Beat butter, shortening, sugar and eggs together until creamy. Add cream of tartar, baking soda and salt, then blend. Add flour and mix well. Chilling overnight is preferred, otherwise at least two hours. Topping: 3 tablespoons sugar 1 tablespoon cinnamon Preheat oven to 375 F Combine topping ingredients in samll, shallow bowl. After chilling, shape dough into balls about 1 1/2 inches in diameter. Drop dough balls into topping mixture and coat entire surface well. Place on ungreased baking sheets about 2 inches apart. Bake in a 375 F degree oven for 10 minutes or until golden brown. Let stand one minute and remove to cooling racks. Makes about 3 dozen cookies.

fun to make... this dough is easy to handle, rolls out smoothly, hold its shape, and best of all is "yummy" to eat. Bring to a boil, stir well and set aside to cool: 1/2 c. molasses 1/2 c. sugar 1 tbsp. vinegar When cool, beat slightly: Add to the mixture. Sift together: 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. soda 1/2 tsp. cinnamon 1/2 tsp. ginger Add to the mixture, blend and pat into a ball. Roll in waxed paper and refrigerate overnight. Next day, roll out on lightly floured dough board to 1/4 inch thickness and cut in desired shapes. Bake on very lightly greased baking sheet in 375 degrees for 10-15 minutes. When cool decorate with a tube of already prepared icing from the grocery.

I like the ones from Girl Scout I think they are called Samoas. I usually baked a lot of cookies for Christmas mostly sugar cookies with Christmas designs. My family only enjoy eating the cookies so I usually take care of the baking.

My favorite cookie is a cookie my family's been making for the holidays for as long as I can remember. It's a cream cheese based dough with nuts and it's so yummy. I tried a new recipe recently that's really great. It's a cinnamon cookie that's really buttery and crispy. They melt in your mouth. I need to make another batch of those, though.

I love to bake a cookies, in fact I have baked cookies last weekend for my spouse and me. I never get together with my family and friends to make a cookies for holidays yet because normally I will prepare it at home and bring them to my parent house. In all the cookies recipe I have, I love one cookies called almond London cookies. This cookies is a whole shell roasted almond covered with the dough and coated with the cooking chocolate and sprinkled with some grated/chopped baked almond. I have the recipe here if you would like to try; Almond London cookies 250 gm butter 1 cup icing sugar 450gm /3 ¼ cup all purpose flour 1 egg yolk 2 tsp emplex About 180 whole shell almond – roasted at 100 C for 1 hour ½ cup grated/shopped almond - roasted at 100 C for 1 hour Cooking chocolate Paper cup Method Beat sugar and butter until creamy Add in the egg yolk and mix well, add in the emplex Add in the flour slowly until the soft dough formed. Take some of the dough and add in the whole shell roasted almond and make an ovule shape. Bake at 170 C for 10 minutes Cool completely. Meanwhile, melt the chocolate using double boil method and coat the cookies. Place the cookies in the paper cup and sprinkle with the roasted grated/chopped almond on top.

I love homemade cookies...oatmeal raisin, oatmeal walnut chocolate chip, raisin-filled, date pinwheels...basically anything with nuts and/or dried fruit. My mom made so many over the holidays and I think I ate most of them and am still trying to work them off :)

Oh yes, the grandkids love to make the ones you cut-out in the shape of Christmas trees, and Santa, and stuff! We just use the sugar cookie recipe, and use food coloring for effects on the different shapes! We have almost as much fun as the easter egg coloring!
