Attentive to detail?

Are you attentive to detail? I just realised that I would never be a good lawer or other professional where they need to be very attentive. I can miss a lot of things and can not notice some mistakes. Don't know what to do with that, but this is who I am. Do you have the same problem? If yes, then how do you solve it?

I have learned to pay attention to details threw being a secret shopper. I really have to be aware of my surroundings without letting the clerk know I am looking at different details. I have no idea how you can become more attentive. I would suggest just being more concious of it.

Hi Oreo~ A secret shopper is assigned a location to go and shop at. Sometimes I am required to make a purchase and other times I am just to browse around. I have to take note of all the workers there and what they look like, what they are doing, what the store looks like, how they interact with me ect. Then I go online and fill out the form regarding the shop to get paid.

That is because you are always in a hurry to get things done. You need to learn to slow down and think about how you going to do things before actually doing them. This apply to a lot of things. You cannot possibly do a good job if you don't think about what you are doing. You also need to think about what you are going to say before saying it... in order not to offend people or to infuriate them. It is easier to express yourself in writing than in talking... because when you write... you have more time to think about what you are going to say.

But all these are when i am engaged in a single task.^_^:) And Oops, i am done with, when i am thrusted with multi tasking. So in this case, i used to make a note on all the things i have to do, one by one,and go accordingly. Take care friend:)

We are all attentive to details that interest us and less so to other details, but I do know what you mean, and actually I am very attentive to detail in the workplace sense of the word, even at home. For instance, when we shop, I always write the amount spent at each store in my database on my pocket computer and I have a little program that calculates our monthly "budget" and after I put each expenditure in, it displays how much spending money we have left after normal expenses and also the average we have left to spend per day for the rest of the month. But I'm terrible about other kinds of details, such as after meeting someone, five minutes later, I couldn't tell you what color their eyes were. Or even shopping with hubby, if we go to different parts of a store and then I want to find him again, I often don't remember what color shirt he was wearing. I could remember the names of hundreds of his students, though. He would say you know that student who usually sits on the right side of my history class with red hair and glasses. I would say, do you mean Peter? And he would say "whatever" and then tell me what that kid wrote on the desktop. The two things that would probably be most helpful in training yourself to be more detail oriented are these: 1) You have to WANT to do it, so take another look at the areas where you are inattentive and ask yourself, "Do I really need to change the way I do this? Why? What good will come out of it? Will it really be worth the effort?" 2) Write things down. Make notes to remember where the notes are that you made to make notes? LOL. If you carry a PDA with an alarm function, use it! If not, keep a small pen and notepad in your pocket and get in the habit of fishing it out and writing down the things that occur to you at a given time. Thinking ahead and making lists and prioritizing is good not only in time management but in making day to day life flow more smoothly. Another fun thing is to invent memory association tricks. For instance, if there is a tall women named Tawnee I make a picture in my mind of her rowing down the Shawnee River and suddenly standing up in the boat and I see the boat rocking back and forth and she is trying not to fall. Although her name seemed unusual to me at first and for some reason hard to remember, now when I see her I smile and immediately remember her name. Absurd things are easier to remember. If I have to go to the store to buy carrots, milk, and celery, I picture an old-fashioned milkman walking down the street with carrots sticking out of his ears and munching a stalk of celery while he carries milk up to someone's porch. Decided along the way to buy chicken, too...no problem, then I add to the mental image a chicken running behind him clucking and flapping its wings. When checking for accuracy on something, the old trick is to review it backwards, as then the mistakes stick out. Good luck!

I'm pretty good with certain details and pretty horrible with other details. I mean, a house burned down a little ways from my house and I didn't realize it for years! Honestly. But I'm pretty good with most other details. It's the obviously noticeable things that I usually don't catch!

I don't have this problem. Many times people tell me I should be a detective or lawyer because I point out things many people have missed. However there is a draw back to being to attentive is that you are always thinking and it is hard to quiet my thoughts. I have to mediate and do relaxation techniques to calm myself and my mind.

there are some people who are gifted and who can easily be an observer and not like most of us where we have to enhance our gifts by practicing it. It is wise of you to know your limitation and that would be your launching pad to start being attentive to details. Practice makes perfect.

Am attentive to details because i need to. I am an under Bar and dreamed to be a lawyer. As of the moment, I currently work as a paralegal or legal assistant. With my situation, I have to be attentive to every detail my bosses instruct me to do because every minute counts. Their instructions should be relayed only once and the result or output of such instruction would constitute to any compliment or subsequent recommendation. Though, I had been very keen to details since I also get irritated when something is not right. Am such a perfectionist, too.

Hello soleya. I think that I have the same problem like you have. I can also miss some details while I am doing some reading however attentive I am to the details. So I have to say that you are not alone there. I don't have any special way to solve it, but will try to be more careful next time as always. Thanks.

It depends on what I'm doing... I can walk past a full laundry hamper for days and never see it til we're out of undies, but with my crafts, I'm a perfectionist. I spend way too much time on the little stuff, and the big stuff falls in on me! I'm starting to do what I used to do when I was WonderWoman... I'm making LISTS of things I have to do. I can't ignore anything, cuz the first thing I do in the morning is check it... the last thing I do at night is add all the things I need to do in the future. THAT clears my mind and helps me sleep better!

I am a careless person and I always realise the detail,at last I have to see the problems or questions once again ,or I only care about the thing I think it was important and sometimes I also have to go back.I know this is a bad habit ,but I find it is difficult to change.I remember a sentence that my parents often tell to me :The little tree has growing stronger and stronger,if it bends that it is very difficult to make it straight.
