***Do You Drive With Your Right Hand, Left Hand, Or Both Hands?***

I was thinking about this on my way home from work today and thought I'd throw this at you to see what you think. I am right handed but cannot for the life of me, drive with my right hand. Don't you think that's strange? Most people I know that are right handed, drive with that hand. I can ONLY drive with my left hand, sort of at a 11:00 position on the steering wheel. I cannot drive with both hands either as I feel all awkward, haha, just like if I drove with my right hand. It just doesn't feel right and I'm not comfortable with it in the least.....I feel I cannot control the car correctly. Am I weird or what? How do you drive, with your right hand, left hand or both????

I am right handed but only drive with my left. I think it's because I am always playing with the radio, which would be nearly impossible to do if I drove with my right. My husband is left handed, but drives with his right hand, which is odd, I wonder why he does that! Maybe I'll try to switch it up tomorrow, drive with my right hand or get crazy and drive with both!

HAHA, so your husband drives with his right hand but he's left handed!..This is too funny. I can't wait to hear how you did tomorrow driving with your right hand, or both, lol! Let me know if it feels awkward to you. I don't even mess with the radio so that's not my reason, it just comes naturally and I don't get it, haha.

I often rest my hands on the wheel across the bar in the middle. I'll also drive with my right hand near the bottom, and I have a grip ball on my steering wheel from when I had sholder surgery 2 & a half years ago. Its set for my left hand (since it was the right one that had surgery.) When I drive with one hand it does tend to be my right one so I can lean my left arm on the door.

Oh, I'm so dominately right handed I had to have the roomie cut stuff for me when my arm was in a sling & had trouble taking care of bathroom business - if ya know what I mean. I was really hard up during the post surgical times, and was why I had to have the ball, because while I can, sort of, turn the wheel with just my right hand, I couldn't do it with the left.

I would have the same problems I think, not sure because I never have had surgery like you, but I can only imagine how hard that had to be. I'm glad to hear you're better now...thanks for responding!

I am lucky in that I have an automatic so I don't need one hand to change gear! I always have both hands on the wheel, I am right handed but I still need both hands to drive, I find it comfortable and I guess it's what you get used to, I feel in control too, because it's balance if that makes sense.

I could never go back to a manual car that's for sure. I love your cat by the way he/she is beautiful!

I have an automatic too, but still feel more comfortable driving with my left hand, I guess I'm strange, haha. I've tried to drive with a floor shift and can't get it, kind of like patting my head and rubbing my stomach at the same time, lol! I just don't think I want to bother, automatics are so much quicker and easier. Driving with both hands is the way everyone SHOULD drive to be on the safe side. When my daughters were learning how to drive, this is the way they were taught and still do. Thanks for responding and take care.

HaHa, you're so funny Terry, forgetting how you drive, haha. I just thought since I'm right handed I should drive with my right hand since I do everything else with it, but I just can't do it, haha. I'm just goofy I guess.

Yeah I guess that kinda is odd, I drive with my right hand but not because I am right handed although I am, it's because I drive a manual car and my clutch is on the left. However I guess if you're in America its all backwards so that could be why you drive with your left hand!

AHHHAHAHAHAHA!..Are you saying we're all backwards here?, I was wondering why my head keeps turning around, hahaha!...just kidding of course, haha. I can't drive a manual, I just can't do it. It's kind of like patting your head and rubbing your stomach at the same time for me....not good, lol!
