Did you ever have an outhouse?

I was fortunate enough that our family home had plumbing growing up, but we had relatives who did not. Did you have indoor plumbing when you were growing up? I can remember different relatives switching over to indoor plumbing or adding on a bathroom. Do you remember these outhouses?

I am 60 years young and for all of my life I have had indoor plumbing but I have used out houses many times. One of our relatives in Colorado had an outhouse that we had to use, it was a two seater which I would only use by myself. Another time when I was working on a ranch they had an outhouse for the workers. And of curse now on construction sites and other places where a lot of people are they set u; these "Johnny on the Spots" or portable out houses. I have made my contribution in several of them.

Yeah, port a potties...I actually have one in my backyard, it was there when I bought the house. LOL I think the previous owners had lots of parties and had it for that purpose.

Actually it was the 80's when I remember one family who lived deep in the hollow who still had an outhouse. I was even forced to stay with them at one time when my mom was going thru some hardship. It wasn't bad during the day, but at night was creepy.

No indoor plumbing until I was nine years old.
