Crafting with Beach Glass

I've always loved walking on the beach checking out the shells that were left behind by the tides and one day I found a piece of beach glass. It was very smooth, rounded at the edges and had a strange frosting on it.
After finding my 1st piece, I was hooked and always look for pieces. Just recently, I took my crafting hobby to more of a part-time venture and have found there's a great demand for jewelry made with beach glass.
I haven't yet used one of my finds in my jewelry making, but I've found some very reliable beach glass sources and have made a few pieces of beach glass jewelry for my shop on ETSY.com ( some of the photos of these pieces have been added on this site)
Does anyone else work with beach glass in their crafts? Any collector's of beach glass?

I don't live on a shore/beach so I can't find any (have bought some tumbled glass tho.) But my aunt used to have several jars of it because she did have access to a beach. I have always loved the stuff. Do you use the twisted wire method of making jewelry from it?

I do, but right now I'm just drilling and using a sterling plated wrap for the pendant and necklaces (just using the wire wrap through the hole and making a little design with the wrap to secure it)
Most of my twisted wrapping items I've kept for myself.
If you are ever in the market for genuine beach glass (pre-drilled either on top or in the middle -- or left untouched) I can point you in the direction of some of the most reputable sellers in the industry... and it's less expensive than you might think.

If you'd like to purchase sea glass, the following seller is as reputable as they come.
By the Bay Treasures is owned by Charles Peden and he is a co-founder of the North American Sea Glass Association. He sells on Ebay, under the name norcaljasper and has a web site under By the Bay Treasures. Great family and their prices are very reasonable (and they also sell some pieces pre-drilled.f you care to make jewelry w/ them)
Thanks for adding me as a friend!

Wow, what a unique idea! I've thought of that one before. I use it in my jewelry and for mosaics. I'd love to see one of your creations!
Thanks for sharing!

I'm sad to say I haven't worked with it, I should give it a try. Those were good pieces by the way Robin. I do different kinds of crafts, arts and a lot of other things. Most recently though I did minor sculptures, pottery and sand art. Yes, I work with sand and not really beach glass (maybe a site visit is in order. it is getting chilly 'round these parts. the beach sounds great... :))

I've wanted to do mosaic art using beach glass. I really don't know why, it's just something I'd like to experiment with a little bit.
I'll probably start of using craft glass until I get the hang of what I want to do with the piece.
Thanks for compliments. I'd really like to see your sand art and I hope you put a couple of pictures up. I love learning about other types of crafting and once the holiday rush is over, I'd like to craft just for recreation...I find it very theraputic after working all day long.
