Good Morning everyone I am cleanin my Stov, that Stove was so dirty. I try to keep it clean but it is so hard because My husband uses the stove too, and he doesn't clean up his mess. How often do you clean yours? I need some tips about cleaning a Stove. I know you can use Oven Cleaner for the inside, but I have asma, tried to spell it the right way but couldn't you know what I am talking about anyway. S.O.S pads are good what else? I know most Stoves are self-cleaning in the inside. What about the outside that is the problem. ~~~~~~~~~Thanks~~~~~~~~~ M.S

I use either baking soda and a damp towel or the ceramic cleaner since I have a ceramic top stove. I find that baking soda and a damp towel can remove it quicker since I do not have a proper ceramic scraper. They are not available in the stores in my neighborhood. I also spray it with Lysol Kitchen Cleaner when it is not that dirty and just needs a rub. I have a self cleaning oven and I do not need the Oven Cleaner and I am allergic to it, so it is only good for cleaning the barbecue outside. However I do not know about other stoves, but I do not that baking soda can remove stubborn stains or and Bon Ami can do as well. I used to use that on our old stove.

Lemon juice and steam work wonders! Same for your microwave! Lemon juice also has antibacterial properties.

That is true but I prefer to drink the lemon juice and use vinegar instead, same results.

Yuck, the hated chore. I try to keep mine clean too and its impossible. Scouring powder sometimes helps. and of course SOS pads. Other then that its plain old elbow grease and trying to wipe it up after cooking. Good luck Marcie, if you learn an easy way to do it, let me know.

marcie: i believe i can help you with your problem.i used to work for a commerical and home cleaning company and we used a product called :tri-sodium-phosphate or tsp. a pinch of this between your fingers added to a gallon of water will clean every window in your house. for heavier cleaning like in a dirty oven use a handfull. if you it that strong use gloves. you can get it at most any hardware store or even wal-mart.

I have a self cleaning oven so I don't really have to do much to clean the inside of the oven. For the top I use CLR for kitchens. It cuts the grease really well and you don't have to work so hard to clean. Also I try and clean the stove top after each use to there isn't any build up to deal with. Cleaning it everytime makes the job a lot easier and quicker.

Perhaps baking soda and vinegar wouldn't aggravate your asthma, I use it to clean just about everything.
