There used to be a time when I would get all gussied up for our family gatherings but this year I'm thinking I'm just going to wear my jeans and a nice top. I was always the only one who bothered any way so this year I'm thinking why bother? Do you get all dressed up or wear your comfortable clothes? What do the other people wear?

I haven't gotten dressed up for christmas gatherings or any gathering really since I was in the single digits. seriously. I mean, I dress "nice" but "Nice" to me is just a nice shirt with jeans rather than a t-shirt with jeans. Ha ha.

i usually never get really dressed up for any family gatherings at the holidays. i've always worn either a nice pair of black pants or nice jeans and a nice looking top. it's how everyone dresses at them in my family.

I was always the only one who would put on my best for the holidays and everyone else had on jeans and was comfortable. Watch this year I'll be the only one in jeans...lol...

I certainly will get dressed up...new sneakers and jeans. And a Christmas top. When I was a kid my parents made me wear a dress all day on Sunday because it was Sunday. When we had family get togethers I had to be all dressed up. I remember going to a great aunt's house, it was an old house, older then dirt and having to be dressed up in a dress and little short socks and freezing my butt off to keep up an illusion of something. I now dress for comfort.

My dressing up would be in jeans and a nice top. That's pretty much how far I go in terms of dressing up for Christmas family gatherings. Since its just the three of us this year I might spend the most of our day in PJs and then get changed into my jeans and top later in the afternoon if we venture out for a drive or to a movie.

When I was still going out for Christmas dinner I used to always dress up, ctry, and that's just one more reason I am happy to stay home nowadays. I can be as comfortable as I like, and don't bother even getting dressed unless I know someone is coming over to visit.

I am not even sure we will have any get together. It is okay, we do our big family get together at Thanksgiving. We do not dress up. I have not decided what I will be doing other than spending great time with my husband. If my son and his family do not go out of town, we may have them over, or go over there for a small get together. I hope they get to go see my daughter in laws family, as her birthday is Christmas Day. The reason we do the big Thanksgiving celebration is that my son, and my daughter, and my sister, and my brother all have birthdays at that time. Back to you original question, though. When I was a child, we always dressed up for the meal itself. Thanksgiving, too. Now, we do not, we come as we are. I think wearing your jeans and a nice top is sufficiently dressy for the occasion of a family get together. I do not ever like to wear anything anymore that does not make me feel comfortable. It spoils my mood and makes me hurt all over.

I get dressed up for Christmas with my family and so do they. Usually, it is one of the few days that I dress up. It is fun for me as I don't get to go out that often. Have a Merry Christmas.

I dress nicely but I dress comfortably. this is perhaps the one time of year we all gather together all at once. We are a close family but our lifestyles are such that we although we all keep in touch, we never seem to be able to all be together at the same time. Christmas eve is our designated gathering and it is a huge tradition. the focus is on our togetherness and not the meal nor the gifts and definitly not on how we dress. It is all about enjoying a good time together and we definitly do.

We are splitting Christmas Day into 2 parts. part 2 includes a 2 hour drive to the in laws and 2 hours back, I will wear my most comfy jeans. I hate long days like that. Days that include a fair amount of driving. Will probably bring a nice pair of slacks. Just In case we go to church. don't think I'd be comfortable in jeans at church.

We, in my family, all get dressed up. We all get together at my sister Cathy's and we still get dressed up like we are going out to a restaurant or something. It is a good reason to look our best. It is a tradition in our family. Even the little ones get dressed up with liitle dresses and little suits. I love the boys in their little suits, they are so cute. There are 34 of us immediate family, that get together for dinner on christmas day. We all dress up.

We wear comfortable clothes. After all we usually eat too much then open presents. Then lay around watching movies. It is all about family time and enjoying that time together. Why bother with being uncomfortable just to look nicer? Jeans and a nice top (or khakis and a nice top) are usually what I wear!
