I received this -- and it makes A Note of Thanksgiving from Charles Schultz The following is the philosophy of Charles Schultz, the creator of the Peanuts comic strip. You don't have to actually answer the questions. Just read the e-mail straight through, and you'll get the point. 1. Name the five wealthiest people in the world. 2. Name the last five Heisman trophy winners. 3. Name the last five winners of the Miss America. 4. Name ten people who have won the Nobel or Pulitzer Prize. 5. Name the last half dozen Academy Award winner for best actor and actress. 6. Name the last decade's worth of World Series winners. How did you do? The point is, none of us remember the headliners of yesterday. These are no second-rate achievers. They are the best in their fields. But the applause dies. Awards tarnish. Achievements are forgotten. Accolades and certificates are buried with their owners. Here's another quiz. See how you do on this one: 1. List a few teachers who aided your journey through school. 2. Name three friends who have helped you through a difficult time. 3. Name five people who have taught you something worthwhile. 4. Think of a few people who have made you feel appreciated and special. 5. Think of five people you enjoy spending time with. Easier? The lesson: The people who make a difference in your life are not the ones with the most credentials, the most money, or the most awards. They are the ones that care. Pass this on to those people who have made a difference in your life. --Charles Schultz Tell us about the people that have made a difference in your life?

Aren't you grateful for people in your life? Things can be replaced...people can't!

Yes, I am grateful for what I have. People who are not grateful are those who can't enjoy their life. Life should be enjoyable. Please note that God has given every person different things. You should be grateful for what God has given to you. Thanks for sharing this, Debs_place. I know the answers of all your five questions.

How sad for you about your dad. The kids I see every day remind me to be thankful for the family I had. We were abysmally poor, but I was very rich in their caring.

You know, you are so right, people that aren't grateful can't enjoy their lives. My father is one of these people, he is demanding and appreciates no one. He is never happy. I seldom remember him smiling (unless he was drinking) when I was a kid.

Let's see, there were teachers, and preachers, my mother, my father. My grandmother, who somehow always made me feel like her favorite. The lady who taught me second grade Sunday School. My friend who helped me sew for my two kids' weddings. My husbands, each of them, my daughter, my son. People I admire at church, who are gracious, and patient, and laugh a lot. A friend who clowned with me. I guess I am lumping everyone into one pile. I would say fourth, fifth, and sixth grade teachers, and I would say Laura and my brother, and a hospice nurse. I learn from lots of people, so number three is hard. It is just too true, these are the people who are memorable to us.

Wow, you have quite a list. It is amazing how many people make a difference in our lives. My hubby and I were just talking about someone who was an angel, I had brain surgery and was in a world of hurt. The hair that was left was disgusting, dirty and full of crusty blood. We called the salon at the end of the street, the lady who answered the phone said that she would stay late so I could come in after everyone was gone, I would not have to wait and she would wash my hair. She took a long time, making sure I was comfortable and keeping the incision are dry and washed my hair. She then scheduled another appointment for 3 days later. She would not accept a penny. That hair washing made me feel so much better. I think it was close to a month before I was able to see her face. She truly was an angel in my life. You know, I went to her to get my hair done until she moved out, but I never found out her last name.

Good post. Unfortunately, I have trouble answering either part. But I do believe in giving thanks everyday for what I have in my life.

Maybe now you can look and maybe see some special people in your life. Sometimes it is hard, I know but over the years hopefully there was someone.

I don't think I would have enough room for all the people that have made a difference in my life. But, here are a few, my parents, who taught me that if you don't try, you'll never know. My daughters, who taught me how to be a good mom, and that you can be friends with you children without giving up the title of mom. My high school photography teacher, who pushed me and showed me how good I could be at something I really loved. My fire chief, of the volunteer fire dept I was a member of, that believed in me, and appointed me to 2nd In Command, I was the only female on the dept. And last but certainly not least, the wonderful man in my life, that has taught me don't sweat the small stuff, that it's not where you're going but how you get there, and that everyday can be an adventure.

Wow, you go, a firefighter, that is a major job, restricted to people who at least in my eyes are heroes. I agree, you can be a Mom and a friend. Hubby sounds like a smart man too.

I love the message of these email. =) While it is something that we all know, it is also something that many of us seem to forget or abandon for short periods of time over our lives. We sometimes start to believe that wealth and status are what makes a person. That the most important people in the world are the ones with the awards, and not the most important people in our lives. I think it's a lot easier at first to take what we have for granted than really appreciate what we have. But appreciation is so much more rewarding =) 1. Mr Paul (English), Mrs Kedraika (English), Mr Williams (English), Mr Quadling (Geography) and the list goes on. 2. Frankie, Natalie, Melissa 3. My mother, father and grandmother, Tex, Alex 4. All of my family, friends and my boyfriend make me feel appreciated, special and loved, each and every day. 5. My sister, Alex, Frankie, Mum, Dad. =D

I think that this is a great reminder of how much we have to be thankful for and how empty our lives would be without these people
