Skinny Santa

Can you believe that some people have nothing more to do than to try to get Santa to slim down. They think we are sending the wrong message to our children. I think they have too much time on their hands. Leave things alone, and find more important things to tend to. Do you think we need a slim Santa?

No seriously, I cant believe this. I mean how ridiculous can you become? Whoever said or thought that Santa is to be emulated figuratively? He is a part of our growing years, a part of our festivities, a mythological character who everybody looks forward to…adults and children included. He is the typical carrot at the end of the stick that parents dangle in front of hapless children to make them good and obedient throughout the year. He is folklore, he is joy, he is merriment, he is love, he is carefree celebration of childhood dreams, expectations and memories for all of us irrespective of our religion (me being a Hindu, and still love the rolly-polly Santa). He is the fun part to very somber religion. I would not want him to change in any way and so would none of the children and that definitely doesn’t mean that they would all like to become round like him. children it seems are smarter than these adults.

I think we need to tell a lot of people to get a life. This is gone too far. We've already banned Coke and cookies at school because they cause kids to get fat. Bullsh*t. Lack of exercise, computers and PlayStations cause kids to get fat, not sweet foods. I lived off of Cokes and cookies as a kid and was not fat. Santa does not make kids want to be fat anymore than driving a car makes me want to be one.

That is one of the MOST craziest ideas I've heard yet, lol. Don't these people realize that Santa is a fictional character. And thinking on the other side of the coin here, is this not insulting to people who can't help having a weight problem? (And I'm NOT talking about people who are only overweight because they don't put their fork down...there are overweight people who have medical conditions that have made them that way!) Skinny people shouldn't slam those who are not skinny...that IS an insult to them. This absurd thought must have come from the same type of people who thought the teletubbies were gay. Get real folks, lol! Sheesh! Santa's fictional, and he's a staple of many happy childhood memories. Leave 'im be!!!

I saw that headline on the news yesterday, didn't read it, just shook my head. How pathetic, that's the whole point of Santa. It's as bad as them banning Santa from saying Ho HO HO. Ridiculous.

I think Santa needs to be left alone. And if you think about it the ones that 'play' Santa during the holiday season, a lot of them are on the thinner side and need extra padding to look heavy set. I don't know what is wrong with some people nowadays that have to go around making trouble for Santa. First he can't say "ho ho ho" and now he is too fat? As most of us know Santa is IMAGINARY, so why would an imaginary person have to lose weight if they aren't real to begin with? I just don't understand it. It really makes me want to say 'ba humbug' to these people!

I think the idea of a slim Santa in ridiculous! So not only would we have to change everything that has Santa on it, because he is supposed to be fat and jolly, but we would even have to change some of the Christmas carols that include his description and everything. I think it's stupid, and funny how we were raised with a fat Santa and turned out alright. I don't think that gives off the impression that it is ok. But really, would we then have to leave a slim fast shake for santa instead of the tradition milk and cookies? How horrible! They need to leave Santa alone! By the way, did you also hear that they don't want santa to say "Ho Ho Ho" anymore? I guess that sounds scary to some children, and now they want him to say "Ha Ha Ha". Yeah, so that will scare me less, because the idea of a big jolly man in a red suit saying ho ho ho scares the crap out of me, but a skinny bearded man in a red suit laughing at me just does so much better for my mind! LOL! Really, they do just need to get a life and leave Santa alone, before they ruin a good thing!!!

No, I do not!!! Some people, no matter how they eat, or how hard they exercise, look large. That does not necessarily mean that they have fat around their internal organs, which is the fat that kills, it just means they are large. What this world needs is more kind and loving people, big or small. I found a wonderful new children's book this year, called Welcome Comfort, by Patricia Polacco, that has a chubby child as the hero. Loved it, and I believe it. We do not all come from toothpick cookie cutters, and we do not all have to be skin and bones.

that would ruin the whole thing got to have a jolly plump Santa. Yes they do have to much on their hands . Just why do these people want to change things that has been around us for 100s of years. and I bet the kids dont even think of his size they want to set on lap and tell what they want and have a jolly Santa saying Ho ho ho

People are really taking things way too far. Just because you are overweight, does NOT mean you are unhealthy. I think it's sad that people have nothing to do but focus on such petty things. Seriously, get your kids off the couch, away from the computer and outside playing everyday, instead of letting them stay inside. That's what's making them overweight, not Santa.

No, skinny Santa's won't work. In ALL the Christmas movies I remember watching, they are always trying to fatten him up for Christmas. I think they will ruin it if they try to make him skinny, but that's my opinion. Have a Merry Christmas my friend :)

I think it is the same people who have family trees, and want Santa to say 'Ha! Ha! Ha!' instead of 'Ho! Ho! Ho!', who want us to say 'Happy Holidays' instead of 'Merry Christmas'. I think we need to believe in tradition! Blessed is the season which engages the whole world in a conspiracy of love. -- Hamilton Wright Mable

Well, it really does not matter to me one way or the other. But, I read about this before on Mylot. I was telling me friends about it and no one seems to like the idea of a slim Santa. They say he needs to stay big and jolly.

I think some people just need to let things like this be! Its not hurting anyone hes a character that brings alot of joy to little ones all over the world. I think they have to much time on there hands if there worrying about minor things like this. Maemae
