Do You Check Your Lottery Tickets Soon After They Been Drawn?

The Reason I'm asking is because we had a winner in our city last Wed. It is now Tuesday and the winner has yet to come forward. The person won the Jackpot for a cool $18 million! They chose a quick pic and marked lump sum. I myself like to check my tickets as soon as possible or watch the drawing on the news. So how many out there check your tickets right away, or do you buy them and forget them?

I wait till I'm at the store again to scan the ticket and since our state doesn't have lotto that's when I go to the next state over lol. But no it's only a few miles. I just hold the ticket & dream awhile but the ALWAYS eventually get checked. It makes my stomach turn to think that there are unclaimed moneys sometimes huge amnts to! :)

Wow your state doesn't have Lotto.. bummer. I hold my ticket and dream as well lol.

I would usually check the tickets immediately after the numbers have been drawn ....unless I forgot about it and only checked it when I remembered...
Anyway, it won't be too late even if its after one week that one checked the ticket coz as far as I know, the prize stays for at least a month unless no one claims it...

This is true the ticket is good for awhile, but ya have to wonder why the person hasn't come forward. I thought about it again today, and there could be a few reasons why. First off the location of the store where it was bought. Not trying to say anything bad here. It was in the middle of our city. And there are all types that hang in front of this store. It is quite the corner. There is also a bus stop right there. It could be someone on Public assistance or SSI. If they did win they would have to pay a lot of money back. Maybe they are trying to figure out how to get the money..

I would check my ticket as soon as I could to find out if I won. That is alot of money so of course I would check it soon. Now as far as comming forward I might wait a few days and talk to some people about what to do with the money but it would be very soon after I found out that I had the winning ticket

Yes anyone who wins a very large sum of money needs to talk to someone. If I won. My main concern would be how much the taxes on it would be. I would like to pay the tax and get it out of my way. That way I have free money without the worry of taxes over my head.
