With the price of everything raising, it seems that most families are on an even tighter budget for Christmas this year. This is a great recipe to give as gifts. It is frugal and good at the same time.
HOLIDAY MUFFIN MIX
5 c. flour
1 c. whole wheat flour
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 c. instant nonfat dry milk
1/4 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup; level off. In large bowl,
combine all ingredients; blend well. Store in airtight container at room temperature or in a cool dry place.
For gift giving measure 2 cups mix
(by dipping cup into mix and leveling off), and place in an airtight container or zipper-topped storage bag. Be sure to include recipe this recipe:
Holiday Muffins:
2 cups Holiday Muffin Mix 2/3 cups
water 1 egg, slightly beaten 1/4 cup oil Heat oven to 400 degrees.
Grease bottoms only of 12 muffin cups or line with paper baking cups.
Place muffin mix in medium bowl. Add water, egg and oil. Stir until dry ingredients are just moistened. Do not over mix. Fill greased muffin cups approximately 1/2 full. Bake at 400 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes or until toothpick inserted in
center comes out clean. Immediately remove from pan. Serve warm. Makes
12 muffins.
Package the amount of muffin mix for 1 recipe,
a jar of jelly, some hot cocoa mix and the recipe in a basket for a
quick and easy gift.

I guess I had better get my measuring cups out and get going. I have a sister in law or two to send this to. I think I have all the ingredients for it. I also have some nice jams and jellies to include as a completer. You come up with such great ideas for easy gifts. Thanks for sharing this with us.

I put it in my recipe file. Mind you for gifts, I would put it in a fancy glass jar, something you can pick up at Goodwill, Salvation Army, or in Canada, Value Village. You have to make it look as if you are doing something special. I wonder how it would be if you add some raisins or some glazed fruit to the mix as well.

I have saved my cute glass jars that I get, so I will have some. You are right, though, the thrift shops will net you some really great containers.

I love making gifts in a jar as gifts. I often include chocolate dipped spoons with hot cocoa mix. They are so yummy. Thanks for a great recipe. I'm going to make these as gifts for my co-workers at our Christmas party.
