Is anything going to change in the way you "work" on mylot with the new changes?

To be honest with you I'm still trying to figure out what's going on!! I see the interest next to my name and the number but I'm not sure what it all means or how it changes. I hope mylot membership has nothing to do with it because there are sooooo many mean, childish people out there. I guess I'm just going to keep on the way I have been and whatever happens happens. Do you understand what the new rating is? Are you going to be changing anything you do on mylot now?

as far as what i've understand from the explanation, interest rankings will show how we are performing in a particular interest. there are 2 criteria for this, the "level" which will show our discussions in a particular interest is viewed by other members. the higher the level, the better. I think it is how we are rated. the other one is "ranking" which is how we are ranked in a particular interest compared to other members of that interest. I think this basically the same with level because it will also show how we are positively participating in an interest. but the lower the rand, the better. I think this is just another way where a member is rated and another way to add to our percentage participation. if we are active in an interest and if our discussions and responses are completely related to that interest, then we get a higher level and a good ranking. I think interest ranking tends to be specific while our ratings are more general. and then, I also think this can be used to lessen those abusive members who start a discussion under a completely irrelevant interest just to ride on with the popularity of that interest. I think all of us know that a lot of people do that.

I didn't think about that one! Those members who keep posting thinkgs like random letters instead of words will have very low rankings right? But on the other hand I think they are only playing games with us anyway and don't care.

I don't agree that they are trying to get rid of old timers. I don't think mylot would want to "get rid" of anyone except trouble makers. It's the members who keep the site going and make money for the owners so why get rid of the people who are working for them?

Well okay, i understand all of that what u said but what I dont understand is,does it matter if we have a low ranking or a high ranking? does it effect our pay some how?... i mean of course we would want to have high rankings that goes without saying but do we "need" high rankings?...is it a must work on. if u want paid sorta deal?

Wow! I just read the message from admin, ctry. I think this new concept has the potential to work against us in some cases. I agree with what you said about some members, and believe it could lead to conflicts. I do know that I have previously had a few of my discussions questioned because I neglected to give a source, but in each case someone supported me and did provide a link which I was very grateful for. I suppose I will continue to do my discussions the way I've been doing them-making sure that I do provide a source when necessary.

It's still early but I'm waiting for the sh** to hit the fan. I've only seen one discussion complaining so far and it was way to early for the numbers to have started changing when it was written.

i think its a new feature. it defines our rank in interest. But i also don't know how we get this rank. may be after some time we are able to understand. this is not going to change my way of act here.

To be honest i was shocked. They must have added that later on this afternoon because it was not here this morning.I read about what it said, and the way i understand it is they rate you by discussions only. For example if you answer a lot of questions say about sports then you have a high rating in that field, and if you do not answer a lot of sports discussions then your rate is lower..I may be wrong but that is what i got out of the whole thing.I am not sure what part it plays as far as us as an individual..I don't even know what the point of it is really.I supposs i will just go on and do what i have always done ...

I do not think it will have anything to do with our earnings

Ok, I understand what you are saying but are our earnings going to change with that? That's what I don't understand!

I'm just going to go about my business as usual for the most part. I may pay a bit more attention to the interests I'm a little lower in if I think of anything to say but that's about it. I think I understand it although I wish we had a little more information about the "levels".

I'm going to have to read it again but I wonder if it has anything to do with 'best responses'?

This new rankings system is a push to have members rate all responses and or comments. My impression is we are rated in each interest by members rating a plus or negative for our responses and comments. So if a member reads each response and comment but does not rate them then that will affect our rankings. Welcome new star system. Ugghh!! This is going to worse than the star rating possible? HAPPY MPOSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I am trying to understand these new changes. I think I do. The interest number next to my name seems to vary depending on the discussion I respond to & what I write. I have started a couple of discussions since these changes, & one rated fairly high, & one very low. I am just going to have to monitor the situation. I think I have figured out that discussions started under the interests of life, MyLot or health rate very highly.

I'm just going to keep doing what I've been doing. I just started on mylot and I still don't know what I'm doing so now they change the rules. Eventually I will get it or I will just quit. I will miss some cool people but I should figure it out eventually!

I wouldn't quit if I were you just because of something new that they started here. Anything they do is to help us earn more money which is always an incentive to stay.

I am definitely keeping on with the way I have been. In reality I don't know that it really effects much. If it is like the star rating then it is something that can change with one angry persons abundance of free time...I am curious though...level # out of how many? For relationships I am level 13, but is that out of 15, 20, 100?

I may or may not understand the new interest ranking, but it will not change what I am doing on myLot. I have tried to make changes lately, in making longer more complete answers. I do not think I will change who or what I respond to. I still spend the majority of time responding to whatever discussions my friends start. If I cannot answer those, or run out of them, then I will go to discussions with zero responses. If a topic is one that I can contribute to, I will do it, if not, well, I will skip it. I will continue to read, and rate, and that is about it. It will be interesting to see if this presents any changes, or any contentment, or even more discontent.

I'm kinda lost too. I don't completely understand it. I'm not going to change how I do things on here though. I'm still going to keep on how I've been doing.

I do not understand the rankings. Does it mean that a high rank is better and if I say what the others want me to say rather than what is right, I will get a better rating? So in order for me to be the best, I have to agree with everyone, so if mostly everyone says it is okay to steal food when you are starving, then I have to say that in order to be better loved among the mylotters? I do not think that is the way to go, to encourage someone to go against their convictions.
