So my husband came home last night and was telling me about an incident in Olean county regarding a Nativity Scene display and the stink that went on regarding it....Here is the news story on it... http://www.wkbw.com/news/local/12377616.html First off I really need to say KUDOS to the mayor for saying all holiday symbols were welcome. I think that shows great character and if ppl would just pull their heads out of their a$$es then maybe just MAYBE our towns, cities and villages could actually have a Happy December for once without the nonsense....That being said however I say poopoo to not only the ppl who complained in the first place but also Wiccan for pulling a stunt like that (to me its just stirring the pot when it wasnt necessary), poopoo to the truck driver for also stirring the pot by running the Pentacle over.... Its ppl like this who are childish and immature, who rather than handle the situation appropriately by talking to town council, going to the mayor and resolving it fairly etc etc resort to sandbox stupidity that ruin it for everyone else... Any thoughts? What do you think would have been the best way for it to have been handled? Do you think the mayor has the right idea by allowing ALL holiday symbols to be displayed?

Hi Ravenladyj, Yes of course the mayor was right. One religion is equal to another and everyone should be treated fairly. What is wrong with us that we can't have some respect for each other? Blessings.

I think the mayor had the right idea by allong all symbols of many faiths to be displayed. I think it's awful that some poeple got up in a tizzy about certain symbols and acted badly. I mean regardless the version, this was the holidays, we're talkingabout. Time for love and sharing and kindness. If they thought their symbol was better, then they should've been an example of this, not the exact opposite. It just makes me a little sad when people do crap like that. We need more Mayors to do that, I think. Then withthings more open and obvious, more talking and discussing will be done..then hopefully more acceptance and tolerance will happen.

Wow thats quite the story. I thought nativity scenes were a part of christmas. After all we are celebrating the birth of christ. I think these people are very childish.

it's indeed worth kudos to welcome all holiday symbols. the world is too big to be ruled by one thought.so, along with the increaseing international contact, understanding and harmony is being needed more and more. the mayor have made a wise decision .
