A question about hairstyles

Shaved heads look so nice - I am shaving my head if you don't like that suck it loser

So I have had my hair short now for a few months and the other day I decided to cut off all of my old dyed hair for good, leaving only my natural hair. Now it is very short, probably about an inch long. The thing is I have lost most of my interest in how my hair looks. I mean, I put some product in it and go about my day and I feel like I look fine. The problem is other people! My boyfriend jokes that I look like a boy... my mom jokes that I am trying to be Sinead O'Connor... I don't understand why people care so much about my darn hair?! I just tell them "wait until I shave it off" because I have been wanting to do that for awhile now just to see what it would look like. My boyfriend said I would look like Buddha if I did that! I almost cried because of that statement (or maybe it's because I'm about to start my period...) I'm thinking about shaving my head as a New Year's resolution... But anyway, people can shove off if they don't have better things to do than worry about how my hair looks. Really. I don't give my mom grief for having a mullet (Ok maybe I used to..) I do have one friend who supports me because she is awesome and the rest of them are butts.

I've always wished I had the guts to shave my head. Ani DiFranco looked beautiful when she had it done. I've never gotten the courage though. My partner wouldn't forgive me either!

Some girls look cute with buzzed/shaved heads. Once on a game show or talk show (can't remember), some blonde girl went so far as to have her own head shaved just to scare her black friend in an April Fool's joke. The joke was that they were both getting their heads shaved on the show, and the black girl believed it when the blonde girl had it done. It was funnier to see it than to have me explain it, of course. :) But lo and behold, she looked cute! I've had my hair up to almost two feet long, and I never put stuff in it. I cut it eventually, but while I had it, women were jealous of it because it was healthier than theirs. Perhaps you should go au naturale; how you go about it is your business. Do you want to just trim it until all the damaged hair is gone, or do you want to chop it all off and start from scratch? If you do chop it, post a picture for us. I can't speak for anyone else, but I won't laugh at you. Promise. :) Love, santuccie P.S.: Laughing at dumb jokes is still good for your health!!!

Well, I got rid of all the damage already so now it's really short so I figure I might as well go all the way since I've always wanted to try shaving it at least once in my life.

That is awful I would be upset also. I just cut my hair shorter then it was but it was past the middle of my back so it was time to cut it some. Now it is a lot shorter. it still curls in the back so I am happy with that.I hope things get better for you.

I don't blame you it is your bussiness how you want your hair. They need to mind their own bussiness. You are a adult and it is your hair.

Ok, so why are they so concerned with your hair ? its yours, and you can do what you want with it! I have never had my entire hair shaved, or that short before, but i did have that undercut hairdo i guess its the opposite of a mullet lol. long on the top shaved underneath. Cause i was all rebal and punk rock oi oi! So when i was done with that hair style, and grew the underneath out till it was about three inches or so, and then i cut it all to about the same lengthh. Now i dont have any pictures from back in that era of my life, cause i didn't want any pictures taken. I wish i had at least one to remind myself of how silly i was with the chains and ripped up clothes :P

I must say, I am a little late in posting in this thread. You have already done shaving your head as can be seen in your avatar. I guess, what ever your hair style is, as long as you are comfortable with it, it doesn't matter what the other people are thinking. What matters is, you like the style you are wearing. When they make comments, I guess it is just them getting use to your real look. We all have mental images of the people around us. Like in the Matrix, the version of the person who is plugged into the Matrix is different from the one in the real world. So, in the same light, when you look different from the mental image that one has of you, there is bound to be some comments or criticism expected. To take it to heart or not is entirely up to you! By the way, I admire your guts to just shave it all off. Especially when you are a girl too. As a man, I wouldn't dream of shaving my head unless the situation calls for it. Way to go girl!

I personally wouldn't shave my head because I have a serious flat spot in the back. But I have also had my hair very short like yours and enjoyed it. I did also get comments about it but for one I looked alot younger with it short. As far as you shaving your head....if you like it don't give a rip about what others say...it's your hair! We had a woman in town where I live that had cancer...to support her all her friends and family shaved their heads when she lost hers from cemo....so tell them to fly a kite!

I was kind of surprised by my boyfriend's reaction too since his mother had cancer and chemo therapy a few years ago and lost her hair... he sort of made a joke about me making fun of her by doing that or something which I thought was really poor taste not to mention completely WRONG.

I had my hair cut real short when I was a kid. Not that short but it was short like a boys' cut and I got made fun of all the time, mostly by my dad who believes all girls should have long flowing hair. I hate long hair. It gets in the way and makes me feel hot. I think it looks good on you and puts the focus on your face. My husband shaves his head like that all the time and he just looks goofy as hell. He did it to my son once too and I about had a fit because my son (at the time) had really blond hair so when it was all shaved off he looked completely bald and his ears stuck out. Now he likes his hair long, lol. I say do what you like and who cares what everyone else thinks.

my hair^_^ - shiny and long.. but wont matter if you want bald or whatever hair style.. your still the same person inside..
thats so brave... nice hair, and why do they tell whats best when we our selves knows better.. if you love it, then who cares.. but honestly.. i never tried shorter hair, when i got the consciousness i already had the long hair.. ever since then until this day, i have the long hair tradition kept in the family... but i have several friends who are courageous and loud.. i have one friend who's a beautiful girl shaved her head.. and i support her, i dont mind, if she's happy with it.. why not? for me.. whatever your hair style is...your still the same person inside. but people always have that strange stare and suspicious look... take care and smile^_^ no one can stop you..

It's your hair, wear it how you want it! If others don't like it, tell them not to look at it. Tell them to look and see you instead of your hair!

Everyone has an opinion. It is funny how we are attracted to someone partially because of the way they look. We tend to forget the person. My father was bald so I always wondered why women did not like bald men. It is your life. Besides change is good once in a while.

I don't think it matters what your hair looks like. It's just the idea of your changing it so drastically. But I say go for it girlfriend. Do what ever pleases you and don't worry about everyone else. It's funny how a person's hair is what people see. Hair can be so nice when on the head, pretty even, but when you find a loose hair in your food or around the sink it is disgusting. I change my hair style and color often because my sister is a hairdresser and has her own shop and doesn't charge me for it except the cost of the product, which is usuall y pretty cheap, around $5-$10.

It is your hair and the only person who has to be happy with it is you! If other people have nothing better to do with their time than harass you about your hair, that is their problem! Try not to let it bother you.

Chicka, it's your hair, your head. Do as you please with it. I'm jealous of women like you to a degree. I'd never have the nerve.

You can do whatever you want with your hair, your body & your clothes. It is not something that impacts on other people, except for their minds! My mother used to critisize my hair a lot too. After getting a few comments from me, she gave up. Good thing too.

I saw your hair when it was long and now that is is short. To tell you the truth i like your hair short.I had my hair cut a few days ago ,and mine was long too.I got so tired of it being long, all i could do is put it in a pony tail or pin it up,so i thought what the heck ,i might as well cut it.I have friend that is a barber and i am a hairdresser so we got the scissors and we started cutting my hair,it is short like yours is and i really like it,it is so easy to handle,i can just run my hand through it and it feels so good.I went and bought some hair glue yesterday called "Got 2 B glued" and i spiked my hair because i had to go to a christmas party and everyone loved my hair.Oh my grown up son will say i look like a man,but i notice that my daughter in law is getting hers a little shorter each year.If you wanted to get the dye off of your hair you did the right thing by cutting it off, that dye will stay on the ends of your hair until it is cut off and when it starts growing out it looks bad ,so i think you did just the right thing. If you do shave your head this coming year when it grows out you will have "virgin hair".....

There are so many things people could consern themselves with. I agree with you - they should leave your hair alone.

I always envy a woman who is confident and can wear her hair short. I think a lot of girls hide behind their hair.
