Am I the only one who doesn't want to change Operating System?

I have windows XP but I know that, sooner or later, I'm going to be forced to update to Vista. For example I'm planning to buy a new laptop and they only sell it with Vista. Windows XP is too good to change it!

You can get PCs with XP installed on them through the end of January 2009. If you shop around you probably will be able to find the PC you want with XP already installed. I bought my current PG through IBuyPower.com in October and had the option to choose between XP or Vista. I chose XP and saved $50.

Really? Thanks, I didn't know. I will try to search if someone sells a laptop with XP. But I don't think I will look online, because for such expenses I prefer to have the actual thing in my hands before deciding if it's worth buying

i agree with you on the fact that one would not like to buy VISTA over XP.XP is too good and vista is really troublesome at some points...except its glossy looks,it doesn't have one feature that attract me. i think you should try DELL laptops as they ask you to configure them yourself, maybe they provide an option of choosing between XP n Vista or sell one without an OS.You can then purchase XP separately

Microsoft agrees with you. They are putting off the kill date of Windows XP because Vista's so bug infested. Besides which, Vista will not run on many computers because it is such a resource hog.

That's very true. Vista certainly won't run on my present PC as there is simply not enough hard drive space. It's 19 Gb ! Needless to say, I'm using XP which I'm quite happy with and in view of all the negative comments that I've seen about Vista, I'd probably get XP installed on the new one as well - not that I'm planning to get a new computer in the near future.

My trusty standby PC has a 4 GB hard drive. It can only run Windows 98 or Linux of some flavor, I've not decided yet...

I guess the reason they took so long to come out with a new operating system was because they were doing all of this research to see what everyone would like. And although I haven't heard a lot of comments about Vista, the ones I have heard were negative. Maybe they will come out with an updated version soon since they are having so many problems and it will be better.

You are not the only one who is die hard in windows XP. I am also. Windows Vista is not much very productive yet as of as to there are a lots of software that has no support on vista yet. There are even device drivers that have no support on Windows Vista. That is why maybe for a couple of years, windows XP will still remain in the mainstream of operating systems.

I hope Vista is an insuccess. They can't get away with an horrible OS just because they are the biggest company in the world. Thanks god I bought a new laptop and the seller offered to downgrade it to Windows XP. I don't have to pay for that horrible OS. Take this, Vista!

You aren't alone in that Rowena. Its fine and understandable. Vista can be annoying to say the least. Too many versions of it, too demanding physical/resource wise. I'm not changing either.

my friends who also do graphics design have told me that windows vista is very efficient. but i am also resistant to change. and when the environment on my changes, it will take me some time to get used to it. and i don't like that kind of anxiety. lol but yeah, i guess eventually, we have nothing else to do but embrace change. we don't really have much choice with technology. we only accept what is being dished out to us by big companies.

I like Windows XP it is the best by far I think, but I know of someone who uses Linux and likes that. I don't want to change from Windows XP either you get used to using one and then don't want to change.

Yes thats true Windows XP is a nice and a good operating system. I am using right now Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2. Sometimes I used Windows Vista, but I am like a new beginner when I used it thats why I go back to Windows XP. I will tell you the truth, Windows Vista is a good Operating System, because they have a good configuration and a lot of features rather than Windows XP. I used Windows XP because it is a friendly user.

My vote is in your favor. Vista is one of the latest version of window XP as it think. I remember the days when window was not conquered the kingdom of computer. We were using disk operating system which was called DOS. We were using FoxPro and much many other programs. We had to remember and practice the different commands. Window came in existence and it vanished all of the knowledge we had earned in years. It made all simple and easy. It kept continue its journey of progress. It reached up till the peak in form of window XP. It is going up and up. It is an invader. But its victories are beyond the limits. It is in seek of easy and easier, but I think it is becoming complex and more complex. New Technology is creating day by day, it may be good for new and fresh students but it is washing all the learning of the old students which is not positive.

Hello dear Rowena. I am also using Window XP as my laptop is an old one which is seven years old now. But it is still working well. I think that it will last me another two or three years before I will upgrade. Yes, you see, right now in the computer market, many of the new computers on sale have Vista installed. So customers will have to use Vista instead. Anyway I think that you will be used to the new version Vista after you get a new computer and have used it for some time. Thanks for your discussion, dear friend.

You are right, XP IMHO is better than Vista. Just look at the user interface of office 2007 and the kind and you'll scream
