The great creamer debate...

For all of my fellow coffee drinkers... how do you take your coffee? If you do take it with creamer, are you brand specific about it? Which do you think is better, Coffee Mate or International Delight? Do you like flavorless creamer or do you like the fancy flavors? Me personally, I like my coffee with creamer but I don't take sugar in my coffee. I will drink it black if I have to, but I prefer cream. I am definitely brand specific when it comes to buying for my own house. I get Maxwell House coffee with Coffee Mate creamer. I generally buy the Vanilla Caramel flavor. I don't know why but the international delight just doesn't taste as good to me in my coffee.... However, if I am out and about or at a friends house, I will drink coffee in whatever form they offer it, because I am a true coffee fanatic! LOL! So, what are your thoughts on this?

The only way I will drink coffee black is if it's a good coffee....the cheap stuff is $hit to me unless it has creamer....I am a coffee snob! Don't get me wrong, when I am broke, any coffee will do and any creamer will do! Like right now, I am broke and my boyfriend did the grocery store last week...to him coffee is coffee is coffee...so, I got 2 cans of Maxwell House b/c it was on sale and Spartan brand creamer b/c it was cheaper. I am cringing while I drink it, but hey...it's caffeine right? Coffee Mate is decent, they have fun flavors...I do prefer the flavored creamers b/c it makes your coffee taste like dessert and I don't put sugar in my coffee either! Fact is you are a true coffee lover if you can drink your coffee straight up and black w/out any added ... well, anything. You will even drink decaf just b/c you adore the taste of coffee and it's benefits. Personally, I prefer espresso. I love espresso....it is rich, bold, full of body and flavor...yet so smooth! I prefer it over regular coffee anyday b/c you can do so much with it! Mix it is lattes, chocolate tastes great with espresso, use it to make iced coffee (Americanos...delish!) Esresso con pannas are awesome...with a hint of brown sugar on top of the whip cream...mmm mm good!

Well WOW, it sounds like you really are quite the coffee drinker yourself! Yes, I truly love espresso... when it is mixed in my drinks. My FAVORITE place where I used to live was this little privately owned coffee joint called Muddy's. My drink of choice there was a Large Mocha with 4 shots of espresso and whipped cream and chocolate syrup on top. That really IS a dessert in my book. Definitely awesome, and definitely a drink to not only enjoy, but give a huge energy boost when it is needed. Granted, I usually don't go to specialty coffee shops, I generally just enjoy the coffee I make at home, because I am usually broke too... I do love to treat myself now and then!

LOL you are too funny! That would have been really fun to work in a coffee shop like that! I wouldn't say I am a coffee snob but I do enjoy fine coffee when I can afford it. I never really went to a place like that on a regular basis. When I was in college I had quite a long drive to school though, and on exam days I would make it a point to stop and get me one of those Mochas on my way to school so I would be nice and alert for my test!I REALLY miss that place.... mmmmmmmmmm mmmmmmm good for sure!

Yeah. I do love my coffee. I used to manage a coffee shop local to MI called Be@ner's Coffee....yeah, I know, they recently changed their name due to controversy...now called Biggby's Coffee...what the h@ll! Anyway....I loved working there...experimenting with drinks, flavors it was all so much fun! Working there is what made me a coffee snob...before then I never touch gourmet coffee or step foot in a coffee shop. Alas, I am too broke to enjoy the finer things in life:-) I to, must settle for home brewed store bought coffee:-) Those were called Mocha Mocha's at Be@ner's....how original, huh? I simply adored any drink with white choc, carmel, vanilla, choc, mmmmm.....I can almost taste it!

My current favorite flavor of creamer is CoffeeMate's Creme Brulee. When that's not available, I go with Hazelnut, Irish Cream, Coconut Creme, and I wish they still made the Chai Tea Spice. That was the best! I've discovered that I like Taster's Choice instant coffee because I can make it as strong as I like and I do like my coffee strong.

MMM that is a really good flavor, and that is really funny that you mention it because I just tried that the other night. Even my international delight user friend really liked it. It's great! I might switch from my strictly vanilla caramel using to creme brulee... yum!

I prefer my coffee without anything. I think it should have a good taste without anything. Sometimes, I will add Coffee Mate which I must say I find it better than International Delight, but they are very both good. I prefer their French Vanilla flavor, there are some other good ones. I notice that Coffee Mate has more flavor varieties than the other brands, but like I was saying I don't usually buy it too often because most of the time I drink it without anything. Pablo

Maxwell House Special Delivery Coffee - Wonderful for those who don't like to measure their coffee.
I love coffee and I am very picky about how I drink it. I like my cream and sugar - never black. I prefer flavored creams - French Vanilla is my favorite - but will use plain cream if I have to. If I am buying for my house, I get Maxwell House Coffee and Dollar General Brand (Clover Valley) French Vanilla Cream or the DG Brand plain cream. I don't think that coffee is really coffee without the cream. Smile!!

It's great to know exactly what you want and how you like to drink it!! I am quite picky about my coffee myself. I like just cream, but if none is available I will drink it with milk, or worst case, black if I have to... But I think the cream is what makes the coffee!

Ahhhhh...there is nothing better than waking up to the sound of a perculating pot of coffee and the wafting rich aromas that fill the house. Just thinking about it makes me giddy! I almost want it to be morning just so I can have a pot. I persoanlly am a raving lunatic if I dont have at leat one cup in the morning..and by mid morning my one cup turns into one or two pots...MMMMMMM...Anyhow...when I was a single Mommy I conditioned myself to drink coffee without creamer because it was an added expense. Now that funds arent so tight and im no longer the single Mommy I love experimenting with all the different flavors of creamer...I will NOT put sugar in my coffee however...What the point if you cant taste the flavor of the coffee? I am an avid foldgers fan and for some reason international delight tastes better with foldgers than than coffee mate..However my friend drinks Maxwell house and I think coffee mate tastes better with that particular brand. I think it just depends on the coffee. Although on occassion I still just drink it straight black. Its always good to have a handle on the different taste sensations that coffee can provide.

I agree smwilliams. I myself am a Maxwell House drinker and I prefer the coffee mate. I don't use sugar either. My husband puts about a pound of sugar in his coffee (in other words, it just tastes like pure sugar) and I think that's gross. I like the taste of the coffee... no sugar needed! I have splurged once and bought the Gevalia coffee. SO good, and man, almost not worth using creamer in that because it is so smooth! Thanks for the reply!

I do not drink coffee on the regular, but when i do drink coffee i like to use that international stuff, the mocha kind, or the french vanilla are both good. If i am drinking coffee at a coffee shop i tend to get the french vanilla capachino, although usually i dont drink much of either cause caffine hurts my brain and makes me all jittery, and right now i'm pregnant, so i have been drinking even less ! but i do still LOVE the smell of coffee brewing where ever i smell it.

I don't drink black coffee at all. I always put lots of sugar and cream in my coffee. I'll use milk or plain cream if that's what I have, but I prefer the flavored creamers. I don't really choose by brand, but by flavor. I just buy whichever one catches my eye at the moment. It also depends on where I am shopping, because different stores carry more of one brand or another. *shrugs* Right now I'm pretty big on the Vanilla Caramel Brownie one, which is one of the International Delight ones.

I love to have my coffee with a few spoons of creamer. It adds a good taste to the coffee and so far I have always use the same brand and it is coffee mate. I have not tried others since I have no reasons to do so. LOL!

My coffee has to be sweet. I prefer Hazelnut coffee creamer the best. I am not brand specific but my husband is. He thinks International Delight is too watery and only wants Coffee Mate. My coffee doesn't have to have a flavor if it is from Dunkin Doughnuts, then I just take extra cream and sugar. Yum.

Well I agree with your husband that Coffee Mate is the best, but I will drink others if I have to... lol. Hazelnut is my husbands favorite too, although I don't know how he can even taste the creamer flavor in his coffee because he used a pound of sugar in each cup! It's like drinking liquid sugar cane! LOL LOL LOL! Thanks for the reply moneyandgc!

I am also a huge coffee fan. For me, it depends on whether I am in the mood to brew a cup of coffee from ground coffee beans. If so, I usually add fresh milk (full cream). But when I am lazy and choose to have a cup of instant coffee, I will use CoffeeMate as creamer. I have tried other brands but found them less rich and flavourful as compared with the preferred coffeemate. :-)

I love the international delights - vanilla or hazelnut. I'm like you, it doesn't really need sugar if it has some creamer in it. Something about the liquid form - either coffee mate or int'l delights - always tastes better than the powder to me. Now I want some coffee - I'd be up all night thought. Funny, even if it's decaf I'll still be up.

Thanks for the reply! I will definitely have to agree with you there, I am a sucker for the liquid creamer. I don't think the powder tastes as good, and it doesn't mix as well either. If I have to choose between liquid creamer or milk, I will generally just use milk.

If I have the budget, I usually like the hazelnut from coffeemate, and there's another brand I forgot what the name was. I'm just like you, I take coffee anywhere at anytime no matter how it's prepared. It can be really hot outside and i'll still be drinking coffee!

I love creamer in my coffee! I enjoy Vitamin D Milk better, but when on sale, I tend to get that particular brand; especially, in Aldi's Store. Sometimes Kroger's and other supermarkets have their own coffee creamer brands, as I usually get the cheapest on sale. To me, all powdered creamers taste pretty much the same. I love Vanilla creamer, too. I sometimes use sugar in my coffee, but not very often. I make sure coffee I buy, usually brand that is on sale, is already ground, rather than grinding the beans down myself. I have drank coffee black, but like you, prefer either powdered or milk creamer in it. Most men I know seem to favor the black coffee much more than a lot of women do, for some unknown reason. I say drink coffee that tastes best to the person drinking it, whether coffee is sipped black or with additives, like creamers or sugars added! Happy Holidays!

I drink my coffee with creamer also. I only want the regular creamer. I don't like any of the flovered kinds. It really doesn't matter the brand. I will drink black if someone doesn't have creamer.
