Okay how many of you have actually went and got all the things you need for your Christmas dinner? I finally went last night getting the ham, biscuits, cheese, whole cloves, pineapple slices, and many other items. But I do know we had forgotten something. So my wife & daughter will be going back Saturday I'm sure. The grocery stores are as packed as the regular stores with the near last shoppers rushing to get their food for Christmas dinner. Are yoyu also a last minute dinner shopper for the holidays? HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

Tonight is my shopping trip for what I am bringing for Christmas and Christmas Eve. I am not hosting Christmas dinner. I have to bring cheesy potatoes,so need to go and buy the ingredients. On Christmas Eve we just do snacks and meatball subs. I have to get some stuff for then too. It is going to be a mad house at the grocery store!

I got my Christmas dinner shopping done when I did my Thanksgiving dinner shopping so I'll be one of those rare ppl that don't need anything at the last second.

Happily, Christmas lunch is at my Mum's place this year, and after that my family will come home and veg out until tea time, which will probably be cold serve consisting of prawns, ham and maybe some salad. Usually we leave the food shopping fairly close, especially for the fresh food, that way the quality is still going to be there!

Yes, that's right. What we call shrimps are the ones about an inch long, usually canned. Prawns are quite a lot larger, and my mouth is watering now just thinking about them, lol!

Gee--I just started my own discussion about Christmas dinner...So you're having Ham? I usually don't have a Ham dinner until New Year's Day as my great-grandmother said having ham on New Years was lucky for the coming year, and funny how traditions get stuck in one's mind I probably won't get the fixings for my Roast Beef dinner until Saturday or even Sunday--you can see all that I'm having in my own discussion..(hint) LOL

I haven't went to get what I'm supposed to make only because my mom hasn't told me what I'm supposed to be bringing yet. You just reminded me that I need to call her to see what I need to bring. We are going over to her house tomorrow night to open gifts with my brother and his girlfriend because they will be leaving Saturday morning to go out of town but my mom will make food for us tomorrow night. But then the whole family (minus my brother) will be getting together on Christmas Eve to have dinner and open gifts so I will have to take food then.

The stores are empty now because of the rain. People won't shop in the rain in my area. I'm aware this sounds strange, but we don't get a lot of rain, so most people don't have rain gear.

I pretty much have everything done in advance. We are having a butterbraid before we go to church and then scalloped potatoes with ham for the main meal as it's my son's favorite so it's an easy meal!

Yes, I am a last minute dinner shopper at times, but I buy my chosen food when there's great sales going on, then freezing stuff like meats;, etc., for later use. I bought my Christmas Ham a month ago, when it was marked down on sale, now have it in my freezer. I put Swiss Cheese in my freezer, too, so it won't spoil before Christmas---then I let it unthaw a few days before the Holiday. My husband and I enjoy mashed potatoes;, baked beans;, Swiss Cheese;, pineapples on ham;, pumpkin pie;, and other added items for Holiday dinner. We shop at Aldi's, since it has the best prices generally, saving a lot of money on the groceries. Happy Holidays from Teri!

Here in Minnesota they have huge sales on hams right now. 78 cents a pound only. Can't beat that. I shop Aldis but some of their brand products are awful tasting. I avoid those like the plague. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~
