What made me think I could have a white dog!

I live on clay hill road. Yep it is named after the red clay mud that terrorizes us all. I just got a new dog recently and he is whit. A white poodle no less. Right now his hair is short, thank goodness.I don't know what I will do when it gets longer! I can give him a bath and the first time he goes out, he comes back in wearing red-clay colored boots and muzzle! I wash off what I can with a cloth, but it does little! I am at a loss at how to keep him clean. Any ideas?

He did not get as dirty today. It has been rainy and cloudy and that really made it worse! lol We have changed his name to Rusty due to a comment from royal below. He likes it too!

ROFLMAO!!! LOL! Oh goodness. I can just see the look on your face the first time this happened. I know I should not be laughing so hard but the only answer to your question that I can think of is...........change the dog's name to "Rusty".

OMG!!! I love it, and he actually came when I called him Rusty!! I didn't like the name Teddy but hate to change a dog's name after he had it for 7 months. i think we will call him Rusty. I like it, Tara likes it, and RUSTY likes it. Now I have to go tell everyone in the thread he wrote! Thanks for the great new name! You get best for that, and you didn't even know I was looking for a better name.

It doesn't matter if your dog is white or not if get dirty. On white is more visible, but same dirt. There are special boots for dogs. It may help. Can you walk him around to avoid red clay?

We live in the country and I can just let him out, he does what he needs to and comes back in, usually. Some times he will get in the bare spots, some times he wants to run around the yard. The boots are a great idea. He has longish hail and it is just growing back out. The others are short hair and they don't get so dirty.

I have a white bichon which also has the curly coat like a poodle, she too suffers the red muzzle and paws. when we've lived in other areas it was easy to prevent that discoloration simply by feeding her lamb and rice dog food and nothing beef based which causes red to happen
