The Weird Things One Does Out Of Boredom

Okay I owe this discussion actually to zu..hey I give credit where credit is due--as she started a discussion about being bored to death and wondering what people did when they're bored.
To be honest, I was planning to spend the night browsing around here, answering discussions, or replying to my own to responders, but it's like crap,...I'm just not all there tonight...where I am I haven't a clue...LOL
So I guess I solved one way to overcome my bored, bored, bored state...I tend to get a bit creative..
As many here have noticed, many of us have joined the "Puppy Club" or puppy brigade and you see these puppy avatars all over the place. And I have to admit it's getting confusing...I mean I laugh hysterically since there are so many puppy avatars out there. But I thought..hmmmm...how can I still be a part of the Puppy Club/Brigade but have just a tad different look. One MyLotter put a cute little Christmas hat on the puppy, while another changed the color/hue and added a Halo. So now I'm thinking what the heck could I do?
Ahhah! Since it's Christmas I wanted to do something with my puppy...so I added an open eye to stare at you, drew in a smile, added the words Merry Christmas on top, and added a candy cane through the magic of Photoshop--okay my special effects won't quite earn me a position with Peter Jackson's Weta Workshop or with George Lucas' Industrial Light and Magic...but hey, got to start somewhere
So when you're bored, do you suddenly get a brilliant, creative idea? Or--Do you just stare in space? Watch one mindless movie after another, see how many peanut butter and jelly sandwiches you can eat all at once...OR-- Pick out the lint from your belly button, pick and squeeze zits?

Your puppy is a little bit frightening with his golden eye! And the candy cane almost looks like he has just eaten one of the shepherds from a miniature nativity scene! I have to laugh every time I look at him!
I got bored last night. No discussions I'm inspired to answer, except for two. Nothing going on at all. So I decided to clean up my desktop and organize my music files. Then I go thru all the folders in 'my documents' and end up finishing a story I started many years ago! I'm calling it 'The Poet & the Pirate' and I'm very pleased with it. I even found an ezine to submit it to!
Sometimes being bored can be a very good thing!

Crap..just looked...they like stories no longer than 1,000 words. My stories are minimum 20-pages...that lets me out of that :(

Well, I actually didn't submit it. I want to do something else with it. But the ezine was Flash Me. Their deadline for this next issue is Dec 31 so I'm trying to knock something else off to send to them.

When I get really bored, I just read with soft music playing in the background. I noticed your puppy's new look few min. ago and thought it was cute. Never thought of dressing up my puppy for Christmas when I changed it. Maybe I'll start doing that whenever I upload a new pic for my avatar. lol

very interesting . I am surpose to have a photo shop on here but I havent even looked at it guess when I get bored I need to and see what I can do lol. I have 5 sets of film we just got developed that I could set here and scan on to the puter that would take awhile.
But mostly when I get bored I call poeple and talk fo rhours to them if I can. that gets me unbored hugs

Actually working with photoshop is a lot of fun...I'm still learning how to use it as I haven't explored everything that it can do. I guess out of boredom I should talk on the phone to friends...one problem though..I'm not a phone person..LOL

I was going to try to answer this discussion until I read the last line of your discussion. Now I must leave and try to get those images out of my mind. Thanks to you, Pyewacket, when my mind realizes it is bored, it will now and forevermore go to the thought of belly button goo and picking and squeezing zits, LOL.

first i would like to say your puppy advatar is very cute and very creative.i not so creative.i take a bubble bathe when i get bored:)if i dont take a bathe when im bore i just surf around the net and dont accomplish anything its my way of breaking free of the computer madness that even when bored i can stop..........i guess im a addictive and a slave of my computer.how sad.....

I do that too, just sit in front of the computer like I'm glued to my seat and just don't feel like moving..LOL Oh,yes, I'm a slave to the computer too. :)

When bored, I draw, scrapbook or read. I also play on my computer, both on the net and off with graphic design software and such. Also I write fan ficion and sometimes write poems. Sorry if my reply is worded funny/hard to read. Having technical difficulties with typing. LOL.

What kind of fan fiction do you write? I've written a few stories a la Lord Of The Rings style and got some of my stories published by Minas Tirith-Evening Star..Journal of the American Tolkien Society :)

Keyboard is still the same; doesn't work at all. Going to hook up a desktop keyboard to it and use that in a few days when I can get one. Still using on-screen keyboard in the meantime. Can only type 1 letter at a time; so all replies to, or discussions of my own, posted, will mostly be as short as possible 4 now.
Getting entire new laptop after I get tax return.
I write Dukes of Hazzard fanfics. Never had any published, never tried, only do it 4 fun.

It looks cute. This is very creative boredom for sure.
I am very busy always, but once a while I am playing on creative ideas and I love it....

How did you get the "frame" around yours?? I was trying to do that myself..sort of succeeded by "painting" in a frame. But is there a short cut way to do that, that I'm missing??

I'm going to check out this Photoshop thing next time I'm feeling bored but creative; sometimes I'm bored but very lazy, if that makes any sense! I often do Sudoku or logic puzzles when I'm bored or surf travel sites - but then that just makes me depressed...lol.

Well I was both bored last night AND rather lazy, which isn't like me. I just really couldn't get "into" anything, but was in the mood at least to putter around photoshop

I'd say that's pretty darned creative on your part, pyewacket. It really adds something to the whole look. I have noticed so many of these puppies popping up all over that I really have to stop and take a second look at whose post I am responding to sometimes. Thers's a lot to be said for originality. Oh, and picking zits is the last thing I want to be doing right now.

Puppy club?
I do all kinds of dumb stuff when I'm super bored, it's pretty sad to admitt the waste of time that one does. I'll stay up really late watching the dumbest movies ever or playing games on my cell phone until my thumb hurts and my hand cramps.

I can relate there...yes, I'll plunk myself in front of the TV and watch the most asinine movie going...like wow..they spent money making this thing...when it's over I'm like, why the heck did I watch that?

When I am bored I usually get on the computer (internet), chat with my sister, read or clean. Sometimes I photo-edit, scrapbook, call my family, write or bake.
If my husband is home then we just go out somewhere. Doesn't have to be anywhere special, sometimes we end up at a book store, sometimes Walmart, and once in awhile we turn up in a brand new place that we explore. That was how we found Cape May and we had so much fun there.

Sounds like you have a lot of creative outlets to overcome boredom. I could never clean though if I'm bored...that's boring in itself..LOL

Well I noticed a lot of the puppy brigade were switching back to the regular avatars...and heck I have to admit I missed my black cat one---did you know in ancient Egypt black cats were the most sacred of all, that's why usually when you see a statue of Bast, it's usually black--but shhhh. Don't tell my real cat Pyewacket who is black that his kind was once worshiped as he might get a swelled head. See you switched back to your regular avatar..the other one..was that your pet Amazon?

I do not think I ever really get bored. My mind can think of things to do faster than I can put them into practice. I have a hard time staying engaged long enough that I can complete things. Ultimately, if too bored, I will go to sleep.

I very seldom get bored....I have plenty of things to do all the time and if one thing doesn't do it for me then I try another and always reading a good book will make things work for me. I have always had the ability to amuse myself and I find it to be very handy indeed.

A lot of the time when I get board I knitt or do some type of kneedle work with my hands. I have been known to get on the phone and call friends. I also will get on the computer and play games or go to mylot. To tell you the truth I do not get board very often. The worst thing I do when I get board is eat.
