Do you go to movie theaters alone?

There is a movie that is currently at the movie theater. I really want to see this movie. Normally, my whole family would go to this kind of movie together. It would be fun to have a family movie night. This year, everyone is busy and not available to go to the movie. I have never ever gone to a movie theater totally by myself. Have you ever done this? Have you ever gone to the movie theater by yourself? How did it feel? Did it feel strange to be by yourself at a public theater? What should I expect to experience?

Some how I like watching my movies alone.I think that it is a very personal experience.A company or a crowd can spoil a good movie.

Don't you just hate it when you find a wonderful movie that you want to watch and share with a friend and then they talk all the way through it. And they are not talking about the movie. They are talking about what they did or did not do at work. I think it is bad manners and it really ruins the movie experience.

I'll go with you!! Yeah! ROAD TRIP!!! LOL I would hold my head high and just go. We all get that feeling like people are looking or talking about us from time to time. when in reality no one even notices we are there half the time. Think about all the times you went to the movies with your family. Do you recall anyone else that was at the theater? I doubt you do and they would not give you being alone a second thought! So go, have fun, and enjoy your movie. I would try to go in the afternoon as Trans suggested, as it will be quieter, as well as cheaper some places. And you could always ask your girlfriend to go with you. I am sure one of them wants to see that movie or would love spending some "girl time" together!

I never have I think I would be too shy and lonely .I suppose you could go right before the movie would start and you wouldnt have to wait around. My fiance every so often will go by himself when there is a movie he really wants to see ,and knows no matter what i wont see. I think it all depends on the person too. I tend to not be very social with people i dont know.

If there is a movie I really want to see, I might go to it alone. Normally, I just wait for it to come out on DVD. Then I can watch the movie several times.

More often than not I don't wait on my friends to go with me to the movies. If they cancel, it's fine with me. I'm used to watching movies alone although it's good if I have someone to laugh with if I'm watching a comedy or just chat a bit during commercials.

I also like to share the experience of a good movie with others. I have been watching several movies at home by myself. Until recently, I had not realized but I had not even watched a movie at home alone. How strange of me. I wonder why I have so much trouble watching a movie by myself. Do you think other people do things like this without realizing it??

If I were you, I'll go see it, even if no one else wants to go with you. I've gone to movies and the theatre by myself and it was no big deal to be alone. There's no one bugging you to go get popcorn or tacos or pop or whatever, and you can actually understand the movie because no one keeps saying, "What did he say?" or "I didn't catch that--why are people laughing?" Anyway, don't miss out on a good movie just because. Have fun and tell us how it went....happy new year!!!

i did this before. i watched a movie that i really like and no one was available to go with me. and sometimes i watch when i'm in the mall and i got tired of going around. ^__^;; the most i remember was when i watched Da Vinci Code and Superman Returns. ^__^ the only thing that felt strange, not strange but i felt something was lacking, was i couldn't immediately share my excitement about the movie since no one was with me then. i had to wait to get back home or to see friends just to let out my excitement. i guess that's what you should expect. ^__^

Ok, I will be prepared for this. I have always had someone close at hand to talk to about the movie right away. So I should be prepared to share my thoughts at a later time with someone special.

I went by myself one time - I was 17 years old, my folks went to a different show. I hated it! I liked the movie, but there was no one next to me to nudge or to laugh with... or to reminisce the movie with. no one to share a bucket of popcorn with or to tell you what you missed if you had to use the bathroom!

When I was a kid, I went to the afternoon matinees all the time. My mom would drop me off. I would watch a movie or two. Then my mom would pick me up. Her and I would discuss the movies on the ride home. Those were some wonderful Saturdays for me.

For me going to the theater was a real treat. I have not done this in the past couple of years but that could be because I have not found a movie that is worth my time. However; I love to take myself to the movies. Some of the time I take myself for dinner too. It really depends on how much time I think I need to relax or simply want to enjoy. Now of course the theaters have a food court so I don't need to go to a restaurant but again it depends on what I feel like eating. Let's just say a dinner and a movie by myself was very enjoyable.

Dinner and a movie? Ok, now I am becoming an expensive date. LOL We do have a mall that has the food court and the theater. That might be a good place to go.

Yes I have gone to theaters alone plenty of times. It's no big deal. There's nothing to be afraid of. Many times I've wanted to see something and didn't have any one to go with. Why should I miss out just because no one will go with me? Do it it's no big deal.

I've never gone to the movies by myself however I've been out to dinner alone a number of times. At first it felt weird but then I got used to it after doing it a few times. I've made friends with the waitresses and waiters which made it easier to go out alone. Going to the movies, it's in the dark so I don't think it would be so hard but it might not be as enjoyable because there wouldn't be anyone to enjoy the movie with especially afterwards but if it's a movie I really want to see and had no one to go with, heck yeah, I'd go alone.

I go out to lunch or out to dinner by myself a lot. I don't know why going to a theater would be so different for me. But somehow it feels different. I suppose I just have to conquer my own fear.

Ok, I will give some consideration to waiting for the opportunity to rent or buy the movie. Thank you for sharing your insight. I do appreciate it.

Hello Royal, Yes I have gone to the public movie theatre alone. If there is a movie I want to see, and I have the free time to see it, I do. I do not always take the time to find out if anyone I know wants to see it or has the time to go. I am a big horror movie fan and a lot of my friends are not. I end up watching a lot of scary movies alone. For me, it is not strange to do this. If there is a movie you want to see go see it. Enjoy yourself and feel free to go an emotional rollercoaster from the unraveling plot.

I always go with my family when I see a movie at the thearer. However, I seldom go with them to the movies they see. Last week there was a movie I really wanted to see and they took me to see it but if they didn't want to go I'd either waited a few weeks till the movie was n another theter and go then.

I did this once or twice I think. But I remember it was the LOTR twin towers movie i think. I want to invite my friends to watch it with me but they are all busy, and i want to see it on its first day. so i went alone. yes, it is very strange. but there are a lot of people watching it on the first day so i enjoy even im alone, cause its all pack. the other movie. i cant remember anymore. but now, when i want to see a movie and no one is to accompany me, i dont go anymore. i just wait until someone will come with me or wait for its dvd copy. :-)

I do not go to movie theaters alone. The only reason why I do not go to the movies alone is because I like to see the reaction of my friends faces. Also we can discuss the movie as it goes. Just incase I do not understand a particular part of the movie, I can just turn to my friend and ask them. I hate watching a movie when I do not understand it fully.

Hello There!!! I have never been to theater alone for the main reason that my parents won't allow me. But I think that being alone in the movie theater would make me feel afraid cause practically it's gonna be the first time. Ialso think you wouldfeel independent.Gud Luck

I don't feel that going to a movie alone would be nearly as difficult as eating out alone! I have never gone to a movie alone but I think it would be rather easy to blend in. On the other hand if you go out to eat solo you stick out like a sore thumb. Go for it!

sometimes i want to go alone so that i can really enjoy the movie without interruptions. cause sometimes my sister likes to talk too much. but sometimes it is more interesting with my sister. the main thing is you are going to see the movie. often schedules don't work out together. so if there's a movie you want to see you go and enjoy.
