Tell me about the furniture in your house....

Did you buy it new and if so, from what store? Was some of it passed down to you? Is your furniture new or is it old (do you have any antiques)? How long have you had your couch? I have learned that it pays to buy good quality furniture. I've replaced cheap couches after a few years!

Our house is furnished with a mixture of new and used. Our couch and love seat were purchased brand new (at tax time of course..lol) from a discount furniture retailer in northern Indiana. We also have an old la-z-boy recliner which has wooden arms (if that's any indication as to it's age) that I'd purchased at a moving sale for two dollars. We have two coffee tables, one was bought new and the other was handed down to me from my Grandmother. Our end tables are all pretty old, they were my hubby's Grandparents that were handed down to him. I also inherited my Grandmothers beautiful cherry wood hutch. I think the best deal I've ever gotten on furniture was at the moving sale where I got the recliner cuz I'd also purchased an antique table with six chairs, a matching buffet, and an answering machine...all for the low, low price of $65.00 and they even hauled it to my house for free! It's been fun responding to your discussion as it's let me look around and reappreciate my surroundings. Thanks! :-)

I love mixing old with new! Your stuff sounds awesome! This is the first year in a while that I am really loving my house and my furniture. We did a lot of updating in the past year.

Well we have a brand new couch. And we didnt even buy it. Someone gave it to us. I guess they didnt like it so they bought a new one. And then we have a couple of recliners but they are very old.

My furniture is a mixture of new and old. There are some things that I bought my self, but there are also a lot of things that I have received from other people. In my home there are furniture that used to belong to my mother in law, my grandfather, my other grandfather, a friend of my mother's, my brother and my ex-boyfriend. I didn't buy my couch myself, my ex-boyfriend had it before we met and when we broke up he let me keep it. It is not new, but I like it very much.
