Is anyone here a book writer or does anyone ever want to write a book? I have been wanting to write a book for a long time just never had the time to do it. But now I think I am going to finally start now that I am not working and I have time on my hands to do it. Any one have any suggestions on what to write about. I have some ideas but I am just wondering what people really want to read.

I'm writing a book that my pubisher is putting out in June. I started out writing fiction in 1998, but found out quickly that it won't pay the bills. So, I switched to non-fiction (which is what the book I'm currently working on is). The best thing to do is start an idea notebook, then brainstorm what you're interested in, research it, and then get started. If you lose interest during the process, it simply means that it isn't the right book topic right now . . . so, move on to the next.

My mom wants to write a cook book and a book of ghost stories. She's recruiting me to do the typing and printing of these for her, and I've agreed to do so. I tried my hand at writing a romance when I was a teenager, I think I threw the story out. I then tried a non-fiction story about 5 years ago, but never got around to finishing it, not sure what happened to it. I don't know if I could be creative enough to attempt writing again though.

That is the way I feel to but I guess we will never know unless we try huh? I think you should give it another attempt. What do you have to lose? Thanks!! iamom35

I understand the desire to write what people want to read. But in my case, some of my worst writing was created while trying to write what I think other people want to read, rather than writing what I want to write. Think of a novel or book that you would like to read, but have never found, then go write it yourself. If you are not interested in your own work, no one else will be. Good luck.

Thanks! I think that is very good advice. I thought about that too and sometimes I just don't feel very confident in myself. But I will take your advice.
