I asked hubby to pick up a new sponge

I have a favorite sponge when I hand wash dishes. It's a soft sponge that's pliable inside a mesh cover. Well, it's seen better days and we needed a new one. Hubby bought two new ones. One looks almost the same--a sponge inside of a mesh cover, but it is really inflexible and I hate it! He bought another one, a scotch guard or something. It is an ordinary sponge on one side with a hard scraper on the other side. I hate that one also! LOL. Are you this picky?

When it comes to doing dishes, you can never be too picky. Finding the right sponge can be a daunting task. Sending your hubby out to make that choice is not a wise thing to do...lol. I would like to find something that doesn't scatch things and yet has the grit to get the sticky/burnt food off the pan or dish. I am thinking of getting a portable sandblaster to do the job...lol.

No, because I make my own. I knit them with a special kind of wool that is hard, kind of like a phintex but not quite. I forget the name of it but I know it when I go buy some. I also knit my own dish clothes out of cotton wool. I love to knit so it isn't a chore for me and I have lots of them in the house. I don't know which kind your talking about either so I hope you didn't get mad at your hubby for not getting the right one. I think for this kind of thing, you will have to go shopping yourself to find the one you want.

How interesting that you knit your own. I've knitted a little bit in the past, mostly afghans, but never even heard of knitting my own wash cloth/sponge.

What can I say, yes I am. I bought something similar for one of my clients' homes, but the sponge does not stand up to the use I am giving it. There are better ones at another client's house. I guess if we are picky, we need to go do it ourself.

I don't use sponges to wash dishes with, so on this account I wouldn't be picky. I am pretty adaptable to most things, and at the moment I'm not thinking of anything that I am picky about. But I am sure there is something, just coming to mind at the moment of what it could be.

If I can get my husband to even remember the sponges, I'm not picky about it at all. LOL! God bless

First of all, haven't you learned, you have to go get it yourself. That way you can be sure you get what you want. It never fails, it I send someone else to pick something up, it is always the wrong thing or type. On the other hand, yes, there are certain things that I buy, and will not buy anything else. Most of the time, if I ask someone to get something for me, I bite my tongue, and use what they bring me.

I like the ones with the Scotchguard one side and the sponge on the other. They are great for my teflon pans. I prefer to use the long lasting scouring pads for tougher jobs.

I am very picky about certain things. When I need my husband to get something I give him specific details about what I want, and he knows to follow them. Lifewise if he asked me to get something specific, I'd know that he knows what he wants, and I'll get him what he asks for.

What a coincidence a couple of weeks ago I picked up the flexible type sponge you are talking about and I really like it. I got it at Krogers.

Maybe the old one is so soft and pliable because it's just so old that the mesh is the only thing holding the sponge together. I think you should keep using it and maybe in a few years, it will be as good as the other one. I use the ones with a sponge on one side and the hard on the other. I buy the brand that always has different designs, patterns, and colors of sponges. Once it gets older and I need to switch to a new one for the dishes, the older one gets demosted to stove/counter sponge.

Personally I like the Scotch Guard ones - that's what I usually use although I probably wouldn't be that bothered if I had to get something different for a change. There again if you use something all the time you sort of get used to it and something new feels weird at first.

Well, first of all let me say that sponges are GREAT bacteria collectors. So I don't use sponges. I don't know that dishcloths are much better, but I'm constantly washing them. I do have the sponge/scrubber combination because it is easier to grip for the scrubber part than if it has no sponge. Now, this is kinda funny, but I crochet dishcloths, which I can't stand to use. My whole family loves them so I'm constantly giving them new ones.
But to answer your question, yeah, I'm pretty picky about a lot of things. My biggest thing is sheets. I only ones that feel certain ways and I'll rip the plastic bag open (enough to stick my fingers in) in the store to feel it before I decide to buy it.
