Do you realize that life is what you make it, and problems are how you perceive

them? I have to remind myself of this. How do you do that? I can feel sorry for myself, because I work two jobs, or I can be proud of myself for doing so, and grateful that when so many people are out of work, I am able to find two decent jobs that are worth doing and that fit my personality. What are you making of your life this year?

I am going back to school in about 2 weeks if we can get all the financial aid situated. We're working really hard to get a pell grant and work study for me so that I can do it. i'm so excited I can hardly wait to get back in to the classroom. I'm going to get my degree in education so that I can be a high school counselor. I'm doing the job now on a volunteer basis, because our school doesn't have someone, but I absolutely love it!

I am not religious. I just do what works for me. I am continually Grateful for life's blessings. I'm a senior with very good health. I have two homes. A Summer home in Canada and a Winter home in south Texas. Right now in Tx we are eating bananas and grapefruit from our own trees. I'm in a constant state of Thankfulness. Life is Wondefull and I'm Having so much Fun!

I'm working on accepting myself for who I am instead of who other ppl think I should be or how I should be. I tend to be bothered by what others think and I'm working on not letting it bother me. I'm learning to like myself more instead of focusing on my shortcomings. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

Some days I can live up to those standards that I mentioned, and other days I am hurt by how I am perceived. Guess I am human, but I think we can all move forward a bit. Thanks for waking this discussion back up.

I think problems are part of life. And i always think there are others who have bigger problems than me so that reminds of how good my life actually is compared to others. If i want to have a happy life i know i have to be positive and accept things.Things happens for a reason. If i have problems i can solve it because i can control my life.I can make my own luck with my thoughts and by doing things.

You are right, problems are a part of life. We can make them bigger by getting a wrong focus on them, too.

you are so lucky.and i am nice to hear what you said.though i am worry about my job,but i think i can find a good job in this new year.sometimes we always focus on the what we can get,and we neglect what we shoud do to others and the world,in sum,in my opinion,we should enjoy our life, even though we are in the low spirit.enjoy our life, enjoy our work, enjoy every minute, and enjoy what we get and what we lose.do you think so?

I do realise that but sometimes I have to really, really remind myself of the fact! Having said that I'm not really one for self-pity although, like most people, I have my moments. Generally I'm pretty optimistic about life and happy with my own situation. If I don't like the way something is then I will do what I can to change it, though that's sometimes easier said than done!

I felt I had to say this today because I get tired of hearing myself gripe. There are millions of people who would love to have the types of problems I have. There is always a worse consequence than what I experience.

Up to a point this is correct. Sometimes though, I think certain situations are out of ones own control. On the whole, I find it better to focus on the positive aspects of my life, rather than dwell on negative. I realise that I am very lucky to have such a wonderful daughter & a fairly close family.

Yes, the circumstances are beyond your control. You do what you can by focus on the positive aspects. You get yourself up and choose to do and be your beat.

I try really hard to always be uplifting toward others and try to think positvitly but sometimes I do not do so well. Sometimes I just want to have a pitty party. On those days, everyone just stays away from me. I have a wonderful life. My family are the best and life is good. Hope you have a wonderful new year.

I am not always consistent with this. It is a New Year's reminder to myself. If it is a situation I cannot change then I may as well find something good in it. Call me Pollyanna

Hi GardenGerty! I agree with you.My belief is Though sometimes life may play tricks on me,I still keep a positive attitude towards life.Life is my own life,I can decorate it,I can make wonders in my daily life or I can make troubles to damage life.Personally,I consider problems as good experiences. The more I experienced, the better I will know the definition of my true life.

Yes, this is one of the first and foremost things to keep in mind. Several famous and wise people have repeated the saying that it is not what happens to us in life that is important but how we choose to react to what happens. In my view this is best illustrated by the example of the man who cursed at the rain. This is a true story which I have probably told on myLot before and will probably tell again, but hopefully each time with a different twist. One of my neighbors, a wealthy man in good health who should have had no cares in the world once stepped outdoors into an unexpected shower. Instead of taking joy in feeling the rain on his cheeks, as where we live it does not rain often, and luxuriating in the fact that he didn't have to work outdoors, or anywhere at all for that matter, he became instantly angry to the point of raising his arm skyward and shaking his fist and, yes, cursing the rain. What a waste of good expletives!

It would be ultimately ironic if he had then suffered a stroke. It is a waste of breath as well. Sometimes the real desert is in our hearts.

Hello Happy New Year. I agree with you that Life is what you make out of it. Regarding your query,I feel you should sit for yourselves peacefully with out disturbances...and analyse your day's activities everyday. This should help you.
