Alright having 5 kids I have stains on every piece of childrens clothing they own except for their good clothes that they wear for special occassions now I tried many ways to get the stains that the kids get on the clothes and somethings worked some don't. Does anyone have a surefire way of getting out stains?
Thanks for your answers ahead of times.

my dear lady, i too have this all of the time. Please use carpet cleaner. Do not leave on more than 15 minutes but scrub in to the stain than wash with color safe bleach. This I promise you will work better than the laundry stuff for stains. If it works for carpet it will work for clothing.

When I costumed plays I used Resolve in the pump spray. That has been a long time ago. It would take out stage makeup, and it took out water stains from things that had been improperly stored in the drama storage.

It often depends on what causes the stain in the first place. I have found that for fruit juice stains and for blood peroxide straight out of the bottle is the best way to go. Some dairy stains as well. I also will mix one part ammonia, one part original Dawn dishwashing liquid and one part water in a spray pump. It gets a lot of the things out. I never buy the commercial laundry stain removers.

Hmm interesting, I'll have to try that but before I do it doesn't bleach any of the fabric of colored clothes does it. Thank you GardenGerty for your response.

I don't have kids but I'm highly stain prone myself so I have the stain removing problem too. It used to stress me out to no end that stains would never come out so everytime I spilled something on myself (all the time) I felt like that piece of clothing was ruined. Then I discovered that oxy powder (except I use the cheaper knock off brand) and what I do is put it in the water when I wash and stains come out. It's great and now whenever I spill something, it doesn't phase me because I know I'll be able to get whatever it is out, even greasy stuff.

You're lucky, I wish I had a 4 yr old to blame my stains on, lol but anyone who knows me would know better. I love the oxy stuff, what I do is put it directly in the water. I tried to use it directly on a stain on my rug and it took out the stain but left the rug white, lol.

Yeah I know what you mean I tend to get stains but they are usually my 4 yr old dumping things on me accidentally. I will have to try the oxy powder, thank you and have a nice day.

Wow I'll have to remember do not put directly on stain dilute the stuff first. Yeah I love my 4 yr old she gives me a reason to not worry about what I look like at times. (insert diety of your choice here) love her she is the one thing I could never live with out .. I feel very close with her since I had a hard pregnancy with her. I almost had a miscarriage with her so I'm thankful for everything that happens that she does even when it's bad.

I'll be reading this to come up with some! I have 2 kids and my little boy is 2 I have stains all over his clothes! Ughhh- hopefully someone will have some good suggestions. The only thing I have found that works ok is color safe bleach in all loads but it doesn't totally take anything away ever.

Yep I have been doing the color safe bleach and the shout and would you believe I actually take the tide and put it over the staind and then put that article of clothing in a wash tub with hot water let it soak for 40 minute to and hour then through in a wash with tide, shout and colorsafe bleach .. I need an easier way doing laundry for 7 people is brutal. Especially when they are 8,7,6,5,and 4. I can only imagine what your 2 yr old gets into. Have a nice night Skinnychick.

I'm not sure if it's a sure fire way...but it does increase my work a bit. I use a stain remover called Cuffs and Collars (I'm not sure if you get it where you are...but I guess any stain remover should work). I use it on the stain and keep it for around 15 minutes so that it works on the stain. Then I scrub it a bit (with a brush or use my hands if they are delicate clothes) and then wash them with the regular load of laundry.
I'm not sure if it's really practical if you have too many stained clothes everyday. I have a one year old and a 7 year old. The babies clothes have regular stains and I do as I have mentioned. But the 7 year old's clothes are clean most of the time. I make him wear dark clothes when he goes out to play and when I think he might have a stain. He has an old T-shirt which he uses when he needs to do something which might get him dirty. Most of the time it is the school uniform which has the stains. But with 5 kids, I'm not sure how many stained clothes you would have regularly.

Sviswan,
I have a 8,7,6,5,and 4 yr old my 8yr she always comes home with some type of stains on her clothes my 7yr old (insert what ever diety you worship here) love him is OCDis like me and doesn't get anything but his designated play clothes dirty. there is no help for the rest of them , It's like the stain sees them coming by and just jumps onto them. I will definitley try it thank you for your help with this.

To get stains out of my sons clothes, it depends on how bad the stains are to what i use.
I brought some stain remover(whitening powder) from a pound shop, which is simular to the leading stain remover...... but cheaper.
It works just as well for my sons clothes.
If the stain is bad i put one or two scoops of the stain remover in a bowl of boiling water with the clothes(inside out if they have a plastic tranfer on) for 1-2 hours and then put the clothes in the washing machine with washing powder and one scoop of stain remover.
It usually gets rid of the stains the first time, but if its still there slightly, i put repeat it all again and it has gone everytime.
