so i was driving down the 404 the other day (don valley parkway in ontario, canada) and i noticed its name.. i always knew its name but it struck me odd this time.. the don valley parkway is a large stretch of road that goes as wide as 6 lanes in places.. it struck me odd because i got to thinking.. why do we drive down a parkway and park in a driveway.. isnt that backwards?! am i the only one who thinks so? it should be you leave your car in a parkway and cruise down a driveway.. anyways lemme know what you think on how that happened or why they'd name it in such a way

Lol, I have no clue why they would call it as such, the QEW is also the Gardiner Expressway. If they could have kept it being the 404 all the way downtown, it would be easier. How do you tell someone driving down from like Souffville for the first time, come down the 404 to the DVP, they may be wondering where the DVP is, not knowing that they're actually driving it, and have been doing so since they hit Steeles. Yes I live in Toronto. New Years day saw a 3 car crash with a minivan in the ditch in the southbound lanes just south of the 401 and two cars into the guardrail/divider about a 100 feet south of the ditched car. If you're stuck in traffic, it's definately a parkway, lol.

That has always bothered me...I have a very overactive mind which tends to overthink everything under the sun..including why colors are the names they are. Who really knows what the proper names for things are...have they been changed? Hmm...yeah. So I really don't know why we drive on parkway and park in a driveway but it does make the mind think for sure :P

Why do you have smelly feet yet you have a runny nose? Many things in the English language appear to be odd xD
