my poor dog's tail - need your prayers!

We went out of town and when we returned and got our dog from thet vet/kennel. The next day we noticed she was chewing at her tail, but not in a playful way and not in a flea way. The next day she literally chewed the whole end of her tail off and there was a huge tuft of hair that looked like a pony tail! Ewwwwwwww, so I took her to the vet immediately. Seems she had some sort of trauma to the tail but of course we can't prove it happened there...but if we had slammed her tail in a door or something we would have known it I am sure. So anyways, the bone is sticking out of the end and our best hope is it will healwith the help of the 2 shots and antibiotics we give her and the end will fall off (about 2") and she won't get infection. Worst case, she can get gangrean (spelling?) and end up having to amputate her tail a few more inches. She's on some good doggy drugs and we are trying to keep her from gnawing more. Keep her in your doggy prayers please. I love her curly swishy tail and hope she does not have to lose any more of it. Of course I don't even want to think about the vet bills at this point or what it would be to amputate - yikes! We have only had her a few months and got her from the shelter but even though she can be a stinker, we love her!

thank you so much, she seems to be doing a little better but lost a lot of her beautiful tail!
