earlier, i ride in passenger jeepney coz i need to go to supermarket, in my mind i got irritated to the driver coz he's texting while driving, and in ny mind i love to say "hey mr. driver don't you know that you're responsible for our life so don't text while driving", and in my mind i love to slap his face coz i want to live more... am i paranoid, am just telling the truth coz most of the vehicular accident reasons are the driver is texting while driving... what do you think about this???

lol. I had been to the Philippines many times and I think generally, people there can text with their eyes close and they can text with one hand, just their thumb! And I think the jeepney drivers are like F1 driver, though they may drive dangerously, but it is always safe. Throughout my life there, I had seen like 2-3 accident caused by Jeepneys and I have been in and out there for almost 5 years now. Anyway, I think texting is bad when driving.

texting is bad while driving if you don't have good reflects or haven't memorized the cell phone keys - i text message sometimes when i drive - it's like my eyes go back and forth - but then you get used to memorizing where to put your fingers to send the message. i remember doing when travelling in bicol back and forth from Ragay to Naga City

even so, your attention is distracted - even if you are not looking at what you are texting. the passenger's life is more valuable than a stinkin message on the cell phone. and after he sends his text is he waiting for a reply? and then is he reading the reply? more distraction from the task at hand.

I text and drive all the time. I am so used to texting while driving I don't even watch the screen and what buttons I am pressing. Not everyone can do this but some people can. And you are very wrong if you think people using their phones while driving is not the #1 vehicular accidents. Not here anyway. It's drunk driving and people not know how to drive. Some people shouldn't even have a licence. But that's another story that has too many issues.

You can't either. You may think you can,but you are causing problems when you do this whether you know it or not. Studies have also shown that talking on cell phones is worse that drunk driving. It causes more accidents. If you care about other people at all,you wouldn't do any of these stupid things.Pay attention to the road at all times. This is not directed at just you personally. It's for all drivers that think they can do things while driving and not cause problems.Be safe.

I dont think its very safe to drive and text, or drive and talk on the phone for that matter.. that's why its illegal in most cities in canada. But people still do it. Even on the hiways. I bet that cellphones cause a lot of accidents. I know people that do it too. . I wanan say to them YOU TELL me what you wanna text and i will type it for you so you can watch the road!!

cell! - I love this cartoon
Yea for sure if you have a headset or hands free that makes talking on the phone a lot safer, but i see a LOT of people holding thephone up to their ears and not paying attention to their driving when switching lanes and stuff on the freeway! THEY ARE CRAZY!

I believe you should have taken his number and reported him to the transportation authority. He is not responsible enough to be driving.

This is one of the emerging causes for road accidents these days. I too have noticed that people are so busy with their Cell Phones that they dont leave them anytime.. not even while they are driving, which ultimately results in a fatal outcome. I think you should ask the driver to stop texting while he drives because by doing so, he is playing with your lives. If he refuses to do so, stop using his services. You can also complain the concernt authorities for his dangerous behaviour.

I think it's distracting enough just to talk on the phone... to be texting is rediculous!

Using a cell phone or texting which we call sms for short message system while driving in my country are not allowed. Anyone who caught with this activities while driving will be summon by the traffic police. It is because using a phone while driving can cause an accident.

In the U.S. it is illegal to text and drive in some states. More states are trying to pass laws to prohibit texting while driving because of all the fatalities that has caused. I just wish people would use common sense.

I think the same way when i see someone text messaging or calling while driving especially when it's forbidden or when someone's doing her make up while driving. It makes me sort of angry but there's nothing you can do about it.So i try not to be angry and just take distance. So i understand your frustration and you're right about it.

Calling on a cellphone or texting should be banned when you're driving.Like the seatbelt sign, the authority should imposed it as a law.It is quite annoying that drivers do not realize the nature of their reponsibility towards their passengers.I'd like to tell drivers that we passengers live and die with them when they mess up!

Hi friend, actually i don't like if driver do texting while driving.its take big risk if do like that because driver can't give attention while driving.the driver must think about the safety all people in the way.don't too be selfish.if a certain was occur can give problem to all people include other driver and family.so before do something must think the effect.

i think it is really dangerous to text and drive at the same time... you are so right that other people's lives are in danger... here in australia, there is a strict law about using your cell phone while driving... if you get caught, you can get a very heavy fine...

I think it's dangerous. I can received texed messages but don't know how to send them. Don't want to waste the money when I can make a call on my cell just as easy. I prefer not to talk on the phone either when I am driving. I do get a little anxious when a driver is either talking on the cell or texting a message. Driver's eyes have to be on the phone in order to text and not the road. I don't blame you for being irritated.

I do not know what a jeepney is, but I am guessing it is like a taxi service - where you pay a fee to have it take you where you wish to go. If this is the case, and even if it is not, I would have not kept my thoughts in my mind. If I am paying a fee, especially, his duty is to me and my safety, he is on the job and should text in his free time... he should never text while on the road like that because it is not just the life and well being of himself and any passengers but also of all the other drivers that cross his path on the road. I would have said, excuse me mr jeepney driver, please wait to do your texting until after we are delivered, or if it is urgent, pull over to the side of the road.

One of my friends was riding in a car with three other passengers and the driver kept text messaging his supposed "girlfriend" and she kept getting really angry. The next day she had to have her uncle go pull him out of a ditch because he went off the road while text messaging.

If you are in a car your attention needs to be on the road. Period. No ifs, ands or buts about it. That's why you have a travel kit in the back seat for the kids and things like that. So they can play while you drive. There is nothing so urgent that needs to be texted while driving. If you are that busy or popular, you need to just stay home and have others do your driving for you. Plus, if you don't care about your own safety - what about the people in the care with you AND the people in the car that you hit or cause to have an accident. Just cause you haven't had any accidents, doesn't mean you haven't CAUSED any!
