So all I have to do is cook some spagetti for tonights dinner because I took some spagetti sauce out of the freezer this morning. Alot of you know I make my own spagetti sauce and then freeze it in little containers. But I always make way too much spagetti. Does this happen to you?

The answer to that Terry is this discussion http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/1360103.aspx Short answer: Yes, it happens, and with the dish you mentioned. Along with a few others.

Oh yes, I always make more spaghetti than sauce, but my kids like it not only with sauce, but with just parmesan cheese, so they eat the leftovers the next day.. I used to make my own sauce, that is the best, but don't have as much time anymore..:(

Hey, I don't blame him. Especially in the summer when I grow my own vegetables and use the fresh, organic, tomatoes in the sauce, that is the Best sauce..:) I hope this year to have more time to make more homemade dishes like that again..

Always make too much, but it's great for leftovers and saves your sanity when you're too tired to cook the next night. Good to see you back.

True it never tastes the same, but when you're low income like me, sometimes you don't have much choice. Meh, that's life sometimes.

I try to always cook extra noodles, I put italian type salad dressing on them later & enjoy another meal with the noodles.

My roomie says the same thing, but I guess because of my damaged sense of smell, it just doesn't seem to be that way for me... Or maybe I'm just that lazy.

Don't fret Terry I do that all the time too, I can never judge just how much to cook up as it doesn't look like it'll be that much when you take the uncooked spaghetti out of that box and put it in the water--but whatever I have left over can always reheat for next day's lunch--uh, do you add whipped cream to your spaghetti..hehee

Yes, I always make too much also. But I think it's better the second time around after being in the freezer. I also store the sauce in the freezer until the next time I get an urge to make it with some kind of noodles. It seems the flavor increases after freezing. I don't wait for the sauce to cool so maybe that has something to do with it. Store it from the pot right to a plastic container and it's put immediately into the freezer.

I quite often overcook spagetti and noodles because its not very easy to get the right amount because it expands as it cooks. If i make too much and i have sauce to go with it, i put some of the prepared food in a container and freeze it for another day. I don't think i've ever got the amount right, i've always cooked too much. I enjoy making my own pasta bake and the only reason i did that in the first place was because i cooked way too much pasta. I add whatever i think will go nicely together with the pasta. I enjoy having pasta with cheese, tuna and sweetcorn. The cheese helps it all stay together so i don't need to add any sauce to it. ~Joeys wife

Yes, and then we eat spaghetti leftovers for a couple of days.... I like the taste of homemade sauce much better than store bought. What do you put in your sauce, terryz?

I put tomatoes and tomatoe sauce with some tomatoe puree and I cook it in the crockpot on low all day. Put some onions garlic parlsey and orgeno. I also put some sugar. I taste it all day then add the sugar by taste. I dont like it too sweet. I make some meatballs and throw them in too. Right before its done I put a slice of velvetta cheese and some parmasean cheese. Thats my sauce!Oh I forgot put a medium size can of tomatoe paste with 1 can of water.

Hi Terry, I love homemade spaghetti sauce ... sounds delicious.:) I overcook pasta in general, and it's usually on purpose, as then we have leftovers. We like to have these on hand, because it's so convenient, and tastes just as good to us, another day. Take care.

When it comes to spaghetti bolognaise I always make too much and we have it for leftovers the next night (if I haven't eaten it already for lunch LOL). Most of the time I cook for just the three of us and at times depending on the type of meal, i overcook and have leftovers the next night.

I always freeze my homemade sauce from my garden every fall and yes, I always end up either making too much spagetti or not enough. I made some last night only to have sauce left over. Never fails with me. So you see, Terry, your definately not alone here. lol

Hi,i use to do this all the time, but i ration my food now because my daughter does not eat alot, but my boyfriend does and im in the middle, some how i make just the right amount for each of us and there is none left, but i do make extra sometimes, especially if its something that my boyfriend really likes and wants some to take with him the next day for his lunch in the woods. He has a heater/stove in his truck to warm his meals up with.So he really likes "left-overs" sometimes, hehe!I do also make sauces, alot and freeze it too,the spaghetti noodles i get it just right...now:/ Peanutjar:):)

I almost always make too much of anything I make. Especially pasta. It is so hard for me to judge how much it will be when it is done cooking. Not to mention the fact that my son will sometimes eat a lot and sometimes barely touch it.

Yes, I do it all the time no matter what I make. The part that stinks about cooking too much pasta is it doesn't taste the same the next day, unless you're cooking it with some shredded beef. We used this recipe from Giada de Laurentiis where she cooked short ribs and shredded them into the sauce. It was so good the next day! I just wish it didn't take so long to make: 4 hours of cooking.

I cannot stand overcooked pasta, I have to throw it out and start over. In order to avoid over cooking, I usually stand guard and do a few taste tests. If anyone calls me from a different room, all I have to do is yell: I'm cooking pasta, and all is understood! LOL I know, I'm so very anal but pasta is pasta, it's what I love and I love it done right! lol

Ok now I feel like an idiot because I reread it and now understand you meant Cooking Too Much! I do this all the time only because we need the leftovers for midnight snacks for hubby and lunches the next day. So for me, it's done on purpose, not a mistake.
