My sister from the cities was telling me she bought a pair of dark blue ...jeans. Well she got them home and noticed a faint odor so she threw them into the washer and dryed them. When she pulled them out they stunk even more! So she proceded to put them back in the laundry...and laid them on a basket of dirty dark clothes. When she went down the next day the whole basket stunk from the new jeans....so she washed them again.....this time she had to take them outside an hang them in her garage since they smelled so bad....I told her to wash them in vinegar so she did and they still stunk. She had to take them back to the store and they quickly refunded her money.....they have been having problems with some of the dyes in the jeans! Has this happened to you? I had a pair that stunk too but after a washing they were okay. If you get a pair they will gladly refund your money!

Oh I could be in trouble. I bought a pair of jeans last week and they are still in the bag. I can't smell at all so will have to ask my husband to sniff them for me. He's gonna love that job...lol Was it at a big department store or a smaller one? I bought mine at Kohl's. Thanks for the warning.

Wow!! I have never heard of getting a pair of jeans that stunk like this. I do know that when I used to work for Fred Meyers in the clothing department from time to time I would put out new clothes that I was hoping the odors would subside some when the item had been hung for a while. But to have an item smell worse after washing them would have been a sign to return them to the store right away for sure.

hey jillhill,I believe it's the dye the manufacturer puts in those jeans.it's a cheap dye.be careful cos it might be hazardous.hope this helps, jillhill!

Hi, a very late post to this, but my daughter just bought 4 pair of jeans at PacSun, and 2 of them really stink. We tried the baking soda soak, hot soak, borateem, etc. One gray pair, one a faded black. They're going back today. I work too hard for my money to deal with this garbage!

A pair of Lee Jeans I just bought from Peebles has the odor of a dairy barn. I thought perhaps the fabric had been stored in a barn before they made the pants. Now I wonder if maybe it is the dye. Washing them several times has done nothing to diminish the odor.

Ok, so tonight I did a search on jeans that smell and this discussion came up. I am a guy so I doubt I have the same type jeans you bought - but mine were Wranglers from Wal-Mart. I washed three pairs I bought at the same time and after drying noticed they smelled funny. I didn't have any other ones clean so I wore them and ended up thinking people were going to smell me all day! I though maybe I had left them in the wash and they had soured or something so I washed them again the next day and noticed the same smell. I wash them all together so I guess now I wash them all seperate to see if its just one pair or all of them. Very strange!
