Now that the New Hampshire primary is over, they want to recount the results. "Democratic candidate Dennis Kucinich and lesser-known Republican Albert Howard asked for the primary recounts." Rumors online of counting errors and differences between hand-counted and machine counted ballots were brought up. Remind you of Florida? http://www.wmur.com/politics/15029531/detail.html

Yeah, too bad the government misplaced its abacus. The numbers just haven't been the same since. We all know that Al Gore is really the prez because the electorial governors forgot to count all those ballots from the polar bears and penguins that voted for Al. Such a sad state we are in.

While I do think stateside should have important recalls and better scrutiny of voting overall, I still /facepalm a bit over this one. Or am I the only one noticing that whenever things don't go a party's or a candidate's way these people resort to something resembling whining? -_-. I just find it facinating if a candidate wins then everything was fair, but if they don't win someone obviously cheated. One recount for good measure, I can agree with that, especially if there are significant deviances to justify another count. Calling for recalls just because you didn't win or things didn't go your way... that's childish. Reminds me of the spoiled kids on the playground whining because they were defeated in a game.

Is it really going to make a difference in the long run? Is this not just distracting from the other primaries? Could it possibly change the results? I get very tired of politics.

Hello Estherlou, Personally, I'm thrilled by Representative Kucinich's call for a re-count! To the best of my recollection, this is the first time in recent memory that a Dem has implied that another Dem has tampered with the vote count. It's usually one party accusing the other. An early investigation into Dem cheating would certainly put all of the candidates on their best behavior throughout the rest of the election cycle. Of course, Kucinich will not get his wish for a re-count, because the Dem machine doesn't want the country's watchful eye on Democrats as a cheating scandal is unravelled. I live in a state that has been ruled by a Democrat legislative machine for more than 70 years. And, I can tell you that our state has seen some pretty wild cheating! - Entire locked boxes of votes disappearing. - Absentee ballots conveniently unopenned, and excluded from the count. - County clerks providing only 1/10 of the necessary ballots in heavy opposition districts. - Poll workers telling unsophisticated voters specifically who to vote for. - Voters who have recently moved attempting to vote in both their old and new precincts. - And yes, the deceased miraculously appearing to cast their votes! I'm a county polling judge, meaning that I'm charged with the duty to make sure that the overwhelmingly Democrat poll workers do not engage in any shenanigans in my district. Once I certify the votes for the county G.O.P., and the Democrat County Clerk picks them up, the matter of cheating is out of my hands. Of course, here's the key: I am a Republican Polling Judge. What this means is that the the Democrat poll workers know that I am overseeing every little thing. So, no shenanigans have taken place in my district since I was positioned as a judge by my county Republican party. And, although the larger scale cheating occurs once the votes are in the hands of the county clerks, there's still alot of cheating that can take place in the individual polling centers. Every county party chair wishes they had enough Dem's & Republicans to man every voting center. Yet, they don't. If each polling center was manned with both parties, then alot less cheating would be going on. Sadly, most voting centers are only manned by Democrats. Usually by Senior Citizens, often times by members of the League of Women Voters, which is an old-time Democrat Ladies Auxilliary, of sorts. So, if we want to rid the cycle of possible election fraud, then the best way to do so is for Republicans to contact their county chair person, and make the time to get involved. I don't want to see any election fraud! I say: Let people cast their votes, and let the chips fall where they may. So, I'm all for Kucinich getting his re-count. I'd much rather see an investigation now, than after the General Election.

When I saw that it did remind me of Florida. I just hope the outcome is better this time. Must be nice to have the money to personally pay for the recount.

I understand that the race between Hillary and Obama was close, but the way you vote in Florida in 2000 and New Hampshire in 2008 and drastically different. Florida voted in many counties with butterfly ballots, in which you have to somehow perforate the ballot by the right hole, which was also difficult to distinguish. New Hampshire voting is like those of other states, you vote by using a pencil to make the ballot beside the correct candidate, and the ballot is then stuck into a machine or box. Rumors are abound every time someone is upset they lost. I love Kucinich and I'm a huge liberal just like him, but he is a little over the top with this recount. We better not ever have another Florida again, I'll tell ya that!

Well in Florida, the Democrats got mad because they did not win and said the Republicans won by cheating. It is difficult to count if some of the papers get stuck together. Then again, if the winning candidates are voted because of their gender and because of their ethnic group rather than on where they stand on the issues, then those who were well ordinary would be suspicious and that would be a reason for a recount. Then who knows whether one of the hand counters favored one of the winning candidates and decided to cheat? Recounting would make sure and it was both party Candidates who wanted the recount, not just the Republican one.
